more like my disasster story continues.

so me and my wife were evacuated for a few days, then we get a greenlight to move back in on November 5th. everything seems cool as we have light back on but no hot water as the heater hasn’t been turned on yet . so we proceed to sleep in, and feel good to be back home…that is…until…without warning…something woke us up at 4am.

a terrible smell creeps it way into our bedroom. unlike anything we ever smelled before, choking us,like it literally was making us sick and almost puke, so were force to get outside the apartment. we get in the car, and call the landlord to see what he can do. he tell us to wait for the cleanup crew which will arrive at 8am. so we wait and sleep in our car the rest of the morning. when the crew arrives i tell them of the smell, we were outside it kinda smells like skunk, but when i open the door of the apartment it smells like something else entirely. the stench is so bad that the worker cant do their jobs and call the fire department to see if it not gas leak. they come by and check and say that is skunk that may had gotten between the walls, and basically unloaded. they do call the Gas and electric guy to inspect later, which would turn on the heater anyways. when he shows up hes confirms that this is indeed a skunk, very concentrated skunk stank. so he proceeds to check the gas line with his instruments, which was also what the Fire department did, and then he notices an “anomaly”.

so he getting this “anomaly” of his meter, and continues to follow the gas line. and when he gets right to the unit below, right where the center of this smell is coming, he gets a reading. “we got a gas leak”. he goes to shut off the gas and “red tape” the installations. so at the end of the day were evacuated once a again, as the smell is still there, plus we got no gas to cook. on the plus side its a good thing that the gas leak was found quickly as the cleanup crew , which took the day off due to the smell, was working with heavy machinery. one spark and BOOM!

we stay with friends that night again , and wait to see what happens. next day we go back and the smell is still there but its gotten a bit more manageable since they put in air filter to clear the apartment. we also noticed that the heavy concentrated smell is gone but unfortunately a bit of the smell got impregnated on our bedroom fabric. clothes , sheets, shoes, all of it had the smell . so we decide that we might as well clean it all right now other wise we let the smell sink in. 30 dollars of laundry machines later, we got it all washed. the stink is mostly gone from all the items. and the place smell better.

right now, on November 10th, the smell is barely noticeable and the only issues we have is that we don’t have gas, and hot water. so i’ve taken a few quick cold showers , but if this doesn’t get fix. ill soon become a new source of stink.
