it's funny what we can do, how we can justify...first time doing somethin' in painter in a LONG time. I forgot HOW much it can look like the real deal. Started as a sketch... then kept going. As per most of my paintings... (this may be one of the very last...) no photo reference. I feel like I've been doing about all I can out of my head... it's time to restore the stocks, and go back to life painting, and working from photos. I feel like my shit is seriously starting to all look the same.
after I was about seventy five percent of the way through I realized that I used the EXACT same color palette as an old painting of mine. Sensation Amputation. I don't know if I even have it posted here, I think it got deleted by the admins. I don't remember. Wacky how that sometimes happens.

A fantastically well done piece. The tonality of it all just works wonders. The part that I find the most interesting is the color of the eyes being offset from the colors of the rest of the body. It actually reminds me very highly of a piece a guy in my ceramic studio made this past semester. It was a sculptural piece of a woman who had many of the same qualities (not the blue white, but just in color schemes a bit, and in body language certainly) but the eyes were made by colorful bouncy balls. Anywho I'm rambling now, either way, great piece!

definitely faving. Your modeling is incredible. That's something I've never been able to wrap my head around in painting. I love the expressive twist of his face, and the way his eyes seem to glow our of their sockets. Lovely stuff.

OMG I was just going to say, how this reminded me of Sensation Amputation, that was one of my favorite pieces ever. I always wondered why you took it down, haha, just it was just Deviantart being a little bitch again. You can certainly tell how much you've progressed since then with this medium. Jesus, something about that blue...I always want to paint people's elbows blue because of your works, its just so disturbing. Anyway, you're the master, its a proven fact.

i really dig the expresion, but on a quick look, the head looks a little big for the body.
