Hi, I'm just wondering... I can't use this one although I've read your description. I've put my image onto the Droplet but nothing happened as well... and then I tried to re-open the image on photoshop (that one that's been on the droplet), but nothing happened when I clicked Ctrl+V; Why is that?

Nice work! Does it cut out any other colored backgrounds than black? Just tried it here, but I think I'll stick to the Export Flame for the time being and then try to use this on some of my old flames... Neat application that you came up with!!

Sorry, it may have been easier to explain what the droplet does, here, this may help:
The droplet is just an exe file of a photoshop action I made for myself when I was doing 4500 million years and the like. I was collaging too many flames for a single peace, doing the same steps all the time, that I just decided to record a macro to automate all those steps.
A few weeks ago I discovered this macro could be turned into an exe file, so I decided to share it with otheres o help them make collages, which, to me are the epithome of apophysis... and Xenodream!
What this program does is:
1) Makes a color selection. Chooses all the black areas. Black is most of the time, the background color in Apo and Xenodream renders.
2) Inverses the color selection. This way, the actual flame or holon will be selected.
3)Copies the images, sending it to the temporary memory.
That all the program does. When you drop an image on the icon, the non black areas are saved on the temp memory. Go to your image in photoshop, the one you previously opened and go to EDIT-PASTE. The image will appear, without the black bakground, on a new layer. Alternatively, you can just type CTL-V and the result will be the same.
Repeat this as many time as you wish to make the collage.
OF COURSE you may need to:
1)Polish the edges of your pasted image. They may have still some black pixels on the outside. If you don`t want them, get rid of them by any means you know. As I answered somehwere else, this is not a Photoshop tutorial!
2) Transform your layers anyway you like. Change the colours, transparency, layer effects, size, postion, etc. THIS IS UP TO YOU!
Hope this helps!
Javier

Hi Javier,
Thanks for that - yes I could see that is what should have been happening, however I wasnt getting the Edit-Paste in Photoshop - it was greyed out . Sorry, I should have said that.
Its a cool little .exe thats for sure. I just wish it would work for me
Thanks again for spending the time to explain though - its much appreciated

Good! But, why do you say " I just wish it would work for me " ?

When I get to step 6 of the process, the edit-paste is greyed out so I cant use it and the ctrl-V doesnt work. Its as if the droplet isnt copying the image to the clipboard.

Darn! I don`t really know what must be hapeening! I thought it was the PS version, I made it at work where I have PS 7, so I waited to come home after reading your comment and downloaded it to do exactly as I wrote, only with PS CS. But everithing was ok! I drop the image, I actually saw the process as the screen focused on PS, I saw the image open, do the colour select process automatically and then it closed, I just activated the background image, chose edit-paste and the cut out image was there! I repeated once again, and then twice again, only the last two with CTRL-V instead of edit-paste, all fine!
Could it just be a memory setting in your PS? Just thinking aloud! Sorry, I am !

Hey you've no need to be sorry
I did wonder about memory actually. I have 1.5gb with only 27% being used most of the time. Im actually wondering if it is because Im using Blackbox skin and use the desktop folder like any other folder. I can see the colour select process as I drag the image over the droplet. Im going to have a look through some of my set up and .... oh I've just had a brain wave, I'll reboot to Windows instead of blackbox and try that way.
Cheers for all your help but please dont be sorry ............

Erm... all you say is: Slap 'em together using different blend modes (?)... who needs a tutorial for that... you should add some more stuff.

No, I don`t . I won`t give any recipes for how to make a piece, that would be taking you by the hand and leading you step by step. This is a TOOL not a tutorial! Something to help you make collages a little bit easier. But it's up to you how will you create them! There are hundreds of Photoshop tutorials on the net, just look for them! Mood when answering:

Interesting little tool, thanks! I guess people could be further advised that if they would like to play with resizing, rotating or coloring, they can create a new image, Ctrl+V, manipulate it until they are happy with it, then drag the fractal layer to the intended collage. Voila!

hehe, you may be right dear Stacy, ye know, I always seem to pass by some things I regard as obvious without thinking for a moment they may not be so for someone else. That's why I've always refused to be a teacher!
Thanks my friend!
