Description
For 's Pokemon contest. Whew. I was beginning to think I wouldn't get this done on time... partially because of my meticulous coloring method and mostly because I'm so finicky with its description background. (I go crazy over things like that.)

In any case, if you couldn't tell by the image, the evolution I made is for Absol.

Name: Absei
Type: Dark
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 420 lbs. (1/4 of the weight lies in the crescent-shaped growth)
Conditions to evolve: Unknown, but the first Absei was rumored to have been a shiny that evolved after it leveled at night between April 4 and April 20 while carrying a Dusk Stone.
Shiny color: Looks like an albino, meaning completely white fur (including the mane and paw fur) with red eyes. The tail and head growth are translucent.

The name Absol has different theories as to the meaning, one of which is "Absence of sol (sun)". I decided to take it a step further. In this case, "Absence of Life". I used an online translator that gave me the romaji "seimei" meaning life. Upon looking at [link] , I discovered it worked perfectly, especially if you click on the link to the "Qingming Festival". (And of course, I used the numbers provided to calculate Absei's measurements.)

This pokemon is the evolution of Absol and just as Absol had senses that were sensitive enough to detect subtle weather changes, so too does Absei, except it became enhanced after evolving... so much to the point that it can even detect death. Due to this power, Absei is often compared to the human death god. Those near their end will be greeted by Absei, who either escorts them into a peaceful afterlife or through the thresholds of Hell.

Physical Attributes:

Absei's scythe-like growth hardens and continues to grow until it curves to the other side of its head, making a crescent shape. This leads some to believe they may end up piercing their own skull. However, the fur hanging down from the other side of its face contains bacteria that erodes the growth continuously, so there is no chance of it ever penetrating their own skulls.

Since evolving from Absol, Absei's power grows tremendously in that one can physically see the energy emanating from its body. On very dark nights, it will make its crescent growth glow like a nightlight in order to see better or to help lost travelers (see below).

Personality:

Being mostly a solitary animal, Absei prefers snowy, mountainous terrain. However, it may mingle with other creatures in forests located at the base of the mountains once in a while.

Absei doesn't like to meddle in human affairs, but it may in such instances as spotting a lost traveler out in the wilderness. Much like Absol that forewarns of danger with its appearance, Absei may bring good fortune or disaster.

Because Absei's senses are so acute, it can look into the soul of an individual to see how kind-hearted they are. If Absei judges the lost traveler to be good, it approaches the person momentarily before running away, ensuring him no harm will befall him on his journey. Should it feel more generous, it may literally lend a light to the lost traveler in dark or hard-to-see areas. Naturally because of the shape of its growth, travelers call it Absei's "Moonlight".

If Absei deems a person evil, but still redemptional, it will silently follow the traveler until Absei is found out. Upon discovery, Absei will run away, leaving only an image of its scythe-like tail engraved in the traveler's mind. Those who saw the tail have made it a symbol of bad luck. The severity can range from minor annoyances to major injuries.

In cases where Absei determines the lost soul to be an incorrigible person of evil deeds, it may follow the man again. However this time, instead of fleeing upon discovery, Absei will approach the man and mark him with its left claw--a signature of death. Nothing will show at first, but as time passes, a red claw (or paw) print will appear on the skin that was marked, which eventually turns black and kills the person.

(Random note: I colored Absei after doing the description and while coloring, I heard about the "Grim Reaper" cat in the old people's home who can sense death and would sleep near a patient that was going to die soon... freaky coincidence.)
