Description
In this double portrait I was trying to represent a girl who is having an identity crisis. Basically I was trying to show that every person has two sides to them...I used these amazing stock photos to create this painting-
[link]
and [link]
The painting size is 90cm by 120cm I used acrylics and then oils over the top
This is the last photo I took of the painting before I kind of wrecked some of it by using to much white spirit on it but I’m happy it even got this far.
i painted this to brush up on my techniques with oils... I don’t plan to do anything similar in the near future ... I don’t think it really suits me.
Comments would be very much appreciated
I found a better photo - its anoying when you mess something up and you dont have decent photographs....

The blending of color is so smooth that it gives a feel of photograph taken with a camera
I quite like the concept behind this image, i have also done some work with a similar concept in my photostories. Do take a look, am keen to know what you think about them as well [link]

nice series my favourite is the 3rd one! the double portaits look great! my one critism is although there is narrative there isnt enough unique objects or surroundings to reflect your personality or feelings. keep up the good work.

Thats a helluva piece of work Joze. Is it the time factor that makes you less keen on painting this kind of thing in oils?
Your handling of the dress fabrics is really triffic.

Thanks ever so much!
Its a combination of too much time and copying photos that Im not keen on. It was really good to do and I learned a lot of skills from it but I would rather do my paintings from life if I can. I’m going to be experimenting for the next few years before I find what I really enjoy doing

Wow. This is absolutely beautiful. I wish I could see it analog, hung up for real.
I'm not sure I feel the conflict. There isn't a lot of tension.
It's still fascinating to look at though. Regardless of whether I get the same thing out of it that you do.
The kind of... middle-sized texture you get in your paintings is amazing.

thanks

Shame about the white spirit!.....
I always think that having a window gives such amazing added dimensions to a picture!...I love the painting so much...sorry you wont be doing more like it....However ,everything else you do is amazing too...and have a more expressive feeling!
