One would think that chain is Kryptonite-loaded just to weaken Superman. Haha!

This is the first time they had met. He didn't know what his weakness was yet.

This is so damn awesome! Β I had to really sit and look to make sure it wasn't actually Sincclair's original!
The chains and green highlighting are so beyond amazing!
I think a little more texture on the rocks, or a bit of referencing lighting and boom - amazing!
really great work

Wow! Thank you so much! Alex Sinclair has always been my biggest inspiration, if I could pick one colorist style to have, it would be his.
I'll look into that, thanks!

Dude, I've nearly started a religeon around that man! XD
It kicks my ass to try and paint like them, but Alex and Marti Garcia are two huge inspirations for me, as well as the great one - Nei Ruffino, but I'm looking very much towards Juan Fernandez at the moment.

Nice job, my only critique on this one is it looks a little too close to the original colors. I would enjoy seeing you try and do something a little more original with it.Β

Thanks! yeah, I always struggle with that when I do a piece that Alex Sinclair has done, I have always been most inspired by is art, if I could pick one artist's style, to look exactly like, it would be his, so I'm always using work as references for pieces that I'm doing (whether he has done the page I'm working on or not). Whenever I'm doing a piece I think "what would Alex Sinclair do?" and then I do that. so you can imagine my struggle when I am doing a cover he has already done. I justify it in my head in two ways 1. I'm not grabbing any of his colors, I use all of my own colors or colors taken from a palette I got a while back. 2. I'm not being paid to do it, this is just practice for when I will be paid for pieces later on, also I mostly just do this for fun. And I'll tell you, the times I learn the most are when I repeat some of the things that Alex Sinclair has done. But I can also completely see your point (in fact Alex Sinclair himself said to try not copying him, but to use his work as a starting point and then put my own spin on it) and I'm trying to stray away from doing it exactly the way he does it. But sometimes I just don't know how.

Ya I hear ya, Alex Sinclair is an amazing artist and its hard not to want to do what he does on a cover he's already colored. I always have that issue as well if Im working on an already published image and I actually look at it while Im working I have the tendency to copy it. A lot of the time when I color a previously published image I try to do the exact opposite of what the published version did that way I make sure I don't accidentally copy it too much. I also understand what your saying about learning from the best, it's only when you'r studying something and working on it that you start to be able toΒ
break it down and see the technique used in it and it can also really strengthen your work seeing it in a totally new way. I didn't mean to attack, or disrespect your work in any way I was just making an observation, I still think you did an awesome job on it its clean precise solid color work.Β

Yeah, I've noticed that you often do the opposite of what they did. And if that works for you maybe that's what I should be doing.
Anytime I copy an Alex Sinclair piece I don't even realize how much I've learned until I go on to my next cover... it helps a lot!
I didn't feel attacked at all. I've actually thought a lot about this already and I appreciate you speaking up about it. Like I said I'm working on moving away from that.
Thanks, again!

This is one of the best things I've ever seen on deviantART.Β
For me, the aesthetics are amazing. Period.
The title drew me in. "Your belt is empty, Batman!" as if for once Bruce doesn't have a gadget (or some kryptonite) to turn the battle into his favour. Or maybe that's what he wants Clark to think. Or maybe not.
Seriously great work dude!
