"Andy......Andy get up. We have your drivers test remember." Evan shouted from the other side of Andy's bedroom door. Andy was still asleep. Evan opened the door. "son.....wake up." Evan said. Andy rolled over and opened his Cybernetic eyes. "huh.....what Dad." Andy said. "you have your drivers test remember." Andy rolled his cybernetic feet out of the bed and onto the floor. Evan shook his head. Andy was still wearing his Cybernetic coverings. Evan shook his head. "son, why do you sleep with those coverings on?" Evan asked. Andy shrugged, "less chance of getting oily stains on the sheets." Andy said sarcastically. "Oh funny guy huh? Get dressed. You have 30 minutes." Evan said. Andy nodded.

Evan left Andy's room. Andy went to his closet and put on a different set of carbon fiber coverings. He grabbed his drivers manual with his permit and went downstairs. Evan was sitting at the table drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.
Andy grabbed a bowl and some cereal and sat down. Sarah walked over and kissed Andy on the head. "good luck sweetie." she told him. "Thanks Ma." Andy said. Then Andy heard something. It sounded like a "whirring" noise. He couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. "you guys hear that?" Andy asked his parents. Sarah and Evan looked at each other. "No, hear what?" Sarah said. Andy shook his head, "nevermind." Andy said.

After he finished his breakfast, Andy put his cereal bowl in the sink and grabbed his permit. Evan stood up. "Go get the car warmed up. I'll be rite out." Evan said. Andy nodded and walked outside.
As Andy opened the door to the garage he could hear the "whirring" noise again. But the garage was pitch black. Andy hit the light switch. Nothing happened. "great. Dad the garage light bulb burnt out." Andy said. But Evan and anyone else weren't there. Andy walked into the garage. As he did, the door slammed shut behind him. The "whirring" noise sounded closer. Andy turned his head and looked into the dark abyss that was his garage. Then out of the darkness he could see a Red Scanner light moving back and forth. left to right, and right to left. The "whirring" noise returned. Suddenly, a set of headlights flipped up and Andy heard the sound of a car engine start. The car revved it's engine.

"what the hell?" Andy said. The car revved again and roared. Andy was starting to get scared. Then the garage lights flipped on. The scanner light began to get closer as did the sound of the engine. The car sped up and the came to a halt right in front of Andy. As the lights in the garage turned on, Andy could see that the car drove itself across the unfamiliar garage. The car appeared to be old, at least old to Andy. It was a 1982 Pontiac Firebird, or at least it was at one time. "Hello Mr. Knight." the car said. "who the hell are you?" Andy said. "Mr. Knight, my name is KITT. I'm your new car." the car said.

"my name isn't Knight. It's Swinburne." Andy said. Then he heard his father's voice. "Andy.....Andy get in the car." Evan said from the passenger seat. Andy walked over and opened the driver's seat door. "dad, what's going on?" Andy asked. Evan motioned for Andy to get in. "Just get in son. KITT will explain." Evan told him.

Andy got in and looked at the dashboard. "what's all this......looks like Darth Vaders Bathroom." Andy said motioning to the computerized dashboard. "Andrew, I am here to show you proper driving technique." KITT said. "Andy. My name is Andy. Only my Dad calls me Andrew." Andy said. Evan chuckled. KITT revved the engine. "alright......Andy. Fasten Your Seat Belt. You will see the gear......" KITT said but Andy interrupted him. "I think I where the shifter and pedals are." Andy said. "But Andy......Wait...." KITT said. But Andy put the car in gear and pushed the accelerator. KITT took off and crashed though the garage door. "Andy, brake. BRAKE!!!!!" KITT said. Evan was holding on to the dashboard.

Andy's eyes shot open as he heard his father calling him again. "Andy Let's go....we have a half hour to get there." Evan said. "Alright Dad I'm coming." Andy said. Andy got out of the bed and walked into the bathroom. Evan shook his head and chuckled.
Andy looked into the mirror. He could swear that last nights dream was real. He shrugged and finished getting ready.As Andy and Evan walked into the garage, Andy saw his father's old 1982 Trans-Am sitting there. A cloth tarp partially covering it. "Dad, are you ever going to get that car running again." Andy asked his father. Evan shook his head. "don't know. Been working on it for 10 years now. Maybe one day." Evan said. Andy nodded and they walked passed it to the family SUV parked next to it.

NOTES: This was a fun little idea I had of Andy having a dream. In his mind I guess both he and KITT are similar. I wanted to have a little fun with the character a bit, and bring a friend into the mix at the same time. BUT, This was a dream. KITT will NOT be a character in Andy's story. I know some of you out there may not be old enough to remember Knight Rider. If you have the chance give it a try. It's old yes, but the show was great for its time, and to be honest it still holds up. But, I will get back to Andy's story now.
