Description
A little north for the chickadee, but it still managed to find the bird feeder, stealing all of the sunflower seeds and then eating them in the bushes.I used a tripod and a remote to get the capture, along with a fully extended telephoto lens. Though the focus could have been a little sharper.
If I've misnamed the bird, please let me know. There's quite a few bird lovers on dA, so point me in the right direction if I have misidentified.

You're right on the ID. This is a Carolina Chickadee, as are most of the chickadees in the Pittsburgh area, unless you get some Black-caps coming down from the north during the winter in an irruption year. I study both Black-capped and Carolina chickadees, so I can definitely tell you this is a Carolina. Nice shot, this actually shows off the only difference they have in plumage well: Carolinas have a dull beige or grey edging to their secondary covert feathers on their wings, while in Black-caps it is bright white.

Thank you very much for the detailed description, and sharing your knowledge. It's amazing that you know all of that
I'll be on the lookout for the black-capped chickadees now that I'm aware of them. Hopefully I'll get a clearer shot next time
