I've always liked The Phantom of the Opera, starting from way back when I saw it on the stage. When I was at the movie theatre the other day they showed a preview for the Phantom movie. I'd almost forgotten it was coming out, and when I saw the trailer I got all giggly and fangirlish. C'mon, I'm a geek! Cut me some slack
Anyhow, I thought why not do a portrait of the Phantom? It's good practice for me and I get the added benefit of getting to look at all sorts of photos of Gerard Butler for reference. So voila! Phantom fan art.
This was all done in Photoshop with my wacom tablet, using a pencil sketch I had done for a base. To see some work in progress images of this, click the links below:

His pose and expression is really similar to a Dracula 2000 promo photo Gerard did, so I'm guessing you used that as a basis. Very well done! You're amazing!

I'm hopelessly obsessed with the Phantom. You did an amazing job on him...Gerard did very well in the movie. But of course, nothing will ever really compare to the stage.

I too fell in love with the story of the Phantom when I saw it first close to 13 years ago. And if you look at the history and the original story, his mask actually covered over 3/4 of his face.

Oh, I know that it originally covered much more of his face, I was just basing this picture on the version of the Phantom from the musical. I did another version of the Phantom for a book cover contest, so I did use the 3/4 version mask there. [link]

I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid I used to pause my Disney videos and draw whatever was on the screen.

When -I- saw the trailer for the movie I screamed, then I 'eee'd. Then I danced and reapeated: THE PHANTOM IS COMING! over and over until my parents made me go outside to scream. ^_^
