before dawn
he wakes me
in prayer

moonless night
my lover's eyes
the only light

cloudburst-
his clothes and mine
drip-dry in the tub

blood oranges
pried open
bleeding down my chin

melon flesh yields
green gourds hang-
afternoon banquet

curbside run-off
graceful silhouette
the flight of a crane

unpaid bills

on the porch-
ant queue

daybreak-
empty and unbroken
a lone snail shell

returning geese
catch up on gossip

high tea

Your hard work has produced a wonderful collection of polished haiku. You've portrayed some very beautiful settings - both visual and emotional.
Thanks for continuously encouraging me along the way, as well. It's great to have met you!

Congratulations for making it through the month. You've amassed a lovely collection of spring haiku.
There were a few I really enjoyed. I love the attention to detail you gave in day two, the humor of day 13, and layers of meaning in day 28, especially day 28.

Thank you dear for your kind words and for adding my collection to your favorites!
Oh i'm so glad you appreciate the meanings in #28 - there are many, and a particular favorite of mine in its spirituality, a part of me that is present in quite alot of my work even if some aren't even aware.
As for making it through the month, now here it is April and i'm building another collection, this time of tanka (which doubles for the month also being NaPoWriMo), and then in May for Mike's summer wrimo.

Good luck with your foray into tanka territory. You have a lot of stamina for those eastern forms.
I'm participating in the NaPoWriMo as well. As for what I hope to accomplish: some lyrical pieces of freeverse that can stand on their own, or together. This is also my first attempt at maintaining a consistent theme. I hope it turns out well.
All the best.

i'm sure it will, you're a talented writer indeed!
As for stamina, if you look through my gallery in general you'll find that i've been writing constantly for years - mostly the long stuff - so it's something i'm doing out of the sheer love of it.
And all the very best to you as well.

Woot Jade, grats on completion!
Here's some comments :
30th March--love the imagery and movements potrayed in this senryu.
22 March--cheeky moonlight!
20 March--romantic.
My fav of the bunch is 2nd, followed by 11th, followed by 30th.
Love the sonics of 'scalloped' and 'overbite' of 2nd March.

You see yourself as the wide-eyed novice, but what I see is a poetic mind that captures the freshness of the beginner but presents it with the skill of the master! Such an amazing combination! No wonder you're my favorite poet!
I got an e-mail from a friend at the office, and it has arrived. I'm going to meet them for one last lunch on Monday, and he's going to hold on to it for me until then. I can't wait to see it!

yes, many of my written pieces (no matter what style) has duality, and #28 is no exception, yet "aplenty" sounds a little like something one would see in an advert. care to elaborate what you feel is the duality in this particular haiku? you seem to be pretty sensitive to some of the meanings in others of this spring collection so i entreat you - you're good at picking up on these things.
...and thank you too for this and your other comments - aplenty!

21 and 24....wooow. Blows me away.
(I used to sneak back to the small reptile room where my family never went and kiss my (now ex) boyfriend,..hehe, the iguana was very good at keeping secrets!)
I like the idea of being woke by prayer--prayer of what, I wonder...prayer to wake up and receive you? Prayer of thanks for sleeping by my side? Prayer for the beauty of you and of the nature of you and of God's handiwork?
Brilliant, Jade!
