How'd you get the paint on so even? Was it acrylic paint? Does it matter what brushes you use?
Also, you made the jacket didn't you? I've been looking everywhere but where in hell do you find good quality leather in yards? So you can work with it?
Your cosplay is really amazing, and it's really nice to see an actual guy cosplaying Mello. xD I'd love some tips from you.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! As for the paint.. that's a good question.. it's been awhile since I've painted it so I'm not 100% sure what I did haha.. umm.. I think what I did.. I believe I used acrylic paint with some random cheap brush I bought.. then I sprayed the individual parts with metallic gold spray paint. hmm.. OR I may have painted the barrel with spray paint because the acrylic wouldn't hold to it and then painted the small bits with acrylic, either way, both paints were used (I found both lying around and this is the only thing I've used gold on.. soo). As for the leather I actually bought two leather jackets from a thift store in the middle of summer so they were 50% off. One was a trench so it gave me nice areas of solid leather. I sprayed the trench red, used the solid pieces to make the hood, used the rest to cut out the top shape I need on the chest and shoulders and set it on top of the other jacket, then used the cuffs from the trench and put them on the cuffs of the black jacket. It was a bit of a jacket Frankenstein experiment to be honest. Hope this helps!

random question, i bought an airsoft gun for my Mello (which he broke within an hour so it no longer works xD probably for the best) but which gun did you buy for your cosplay? i've been meaning to replace the broken one and my Mello and I are pretty OCD about details xDDDD

I bought the m92f airsoft gun. It's the same model Mello uses and can be found on amazon :] the painting and adding of the cross needs to be done by hand though. And if you really want to get into detail there's a crucifix on each side of the handle.. But I haven't done that yet :/

I purchased the airsoft version of the gun he uses and then hand painted it and added the chain/cross. Still need to put the crosses in the handle though ^^

That gun is absolutely epic. I can't look at this picture without hearing Mello tell Near that he's not his tool in my head. In Japanese. I don't understand Japanese, but his tone of voice during that line of the anime really stuck with me, and this picture evinces it perfectly.

Like where did I get it? It's a silver M92F airsoft gun that I bought off amazon. I then custom painted it and added the chain and cross.
