Description
A grey wolf set commissioned by Rex. The wolf fur used is one of my favorites. It was bought locally. We bought up the whole bolt because it was such an awesome, rare find. And it totally matches what real wolf fur is like, which is cool. The set includes ears, a foam tail, handpaws with puffy pads and black claws, and outdoor style footpaws with black claws.

These were commissioned by a guy a while back, so no they're not for sale. I do take commissions for things like this, though.

What way did you make the handpaws? Did you use the foam for the fingers, or did you just sew two pieces of hand patterened fur together? And how much did it cost to make everything?

I don't use foam on the paws--they're just sandwich fur. Cost is difficult to really speculate, because it's everything from the fur to the foam, the glue, the thread... it's hard to say. A basic set that consists of ears, paws, tail, and feet start at $200, and very little of that is actual profit.

lovely job!
can I ask: how do you get the grey and white furs to blend so well ? (like, the toes)

Thanks!
I'm not really sure what you mean. They're two different furs next to each other--they naturally blend that way.

its just they blend so well. whenever I've tried to join two pieces they always show a massive join where the hairs of one layer seems to get trapped between the two layers (looks like a bald patch!) - do you trim the fur at all?

Oh, yeah, when you sew them you have to pull the fur out of the seams. I do indeed trim the fur with hair clippers meant for animals.

sorry- just one more dumb question: do you do anything to hold the fur back from the seems when sewing (I machine sew and have tried using tape to hold the pile back...but it still gets caught, and I dont fancy sewing large pieces by hand!)

Everything but my bodysuits is sewn by hand. But when I do bodysuits, no there's nothing special I do to keep the fur back--just pin it very tightly.
