EDIT*...fixed Jakes ear..it was way tooo low..and played with his expression..and his hair...*WHEW....nervous about putting this one up...not for what its of...for the emotional deepness of it. This is a depiction of Jake confessing to his friend Phil something terrible he just did...AND..finally..TRULY allowing God to help him.! Its basically baring Jakes soul....
A little back door into what made Jake..Jake.
Growing up..Jake was an excessive over achiever..and you can blame that on his Father..who loved him..yet always pushed Jake to his limit, making him feel he wasnt worthy, that no matter WHAT he did..it was NEVER good enough for his Dad.
When he got into high school..thats when the REAL trouble started ..the tests got harder, and his Fathers expectations got WAY higher..he wanted Jake to go to finest college there was..with the HIGHest honors....and hed stay awake late studying..but he still started to get low grades...and he panicked..knowing his father wouldnt put up with that.
He started trying energy drinks...then pep pills..and as the months wore on theyd loose their effect..and hed have to try stronger pills.
Entrance exams were coming up to one VERY prestigeous school...and the terror of not getting all A's was bearing down on him..and so was his Father.
In an act of sheer desperation and stupidity..Jake asked an acquaintance of his if he knew of ANYTHING you could take that would make you stay up enough to get in all the studying he needed to do.
The kid said sure..and handed him something..that Jake assumed was more of the semi harmless things hed been taking
He found out that night..it wasnt...with his paretnts gone away for the weekend..hed figured hed take this pill..and study all night..then be able to sleep the rest of the weekend and be ready for the test on Monday...what he didnt know was what the kid gave him was some type of speed.
He ended up FREAKING out in the bathroom..and smashed the mirror with his hand. and then hid under the sink for HOURS...
when his mind cleared a little..he called Phil..who FOREVER had been there for him....he came and listened to all Jake had to say...Jake of course blaming himself for not being able to handle things..and then feeling utter shame at going to pills for help.
Phil helped him see that hed been fighting all alone..that even though Jake knew God..he wasnt letting him in..(HE still has that problem from time to time)..and Jake gave himself totally over to God then and there...hes had a few back slides..but..that day was a deciding factor in who and what he was to become.
OH MY...it took me LONGER to write the description out..than it did to draw it....
.SO...thats your public service announcement for the day...NEVER turn to drugs, kids..it will be your undoing..!!

Wow, very developed character, I see. That's cool, I just realized that in every Christian based novel, God is always the same 'character'. Hahahaha. Anyway, that was a random revaluation.
I'm excited to see where you go with these characters. Are you and your friend planning on publishing your book?

I would love to see it published one day..if only to have it on my shelf to read it EVERY DAY...(well..maybe not EVERY day..haha) BUT..it would be pretty exciting to get it that far, I would like it to become a graphic novel..with her story..and my drawings..its sooo much FUN working with her..
AND..his hand is bleeding because he smashed his hand thru the mirror in the bathroom.. *what happened when he freaked out*

OH! I know, that be so exciting. I would really like to see a graphic novel. There are just so SO few graphic novels or manga that are Christian. I hope to get more out there, ya know. But written novels are just as good and just as exciting! X3

WEll..stay tuned..cause I know it will happen..might take a few years..BUT..Im not worried..it will happen in its own good time..no rushing these things..IM just soo psyched to see Jake in someone elses ideas..it just FLOORS ME! NOT to mention actually reading the ideas Ive come up with ON PAPER..its just..WOW!!

That reminds me a lot of me when I was trying to study for a math test. I didn't turn to drugs or anything like that, but I wasn't asking God to help me. Our final grade came from ten 10 point quizes and 3 100 point tests. I did fairly well on the quizes, but bombed the first two tests. The only way I could pass the class with a D was if I made a 100 on the final test. So I asked a lady at my church who home schools her children to help me study for the test. The first thing she did before we studied was ask me if I had asked God to help me. Ashamed I answered "no". Right then and there we both prayed for God to help me. I prayed again before the test and to my surprise I made a 100 on the test! I'll be taking the class again to get a better grade, but I learned an important lesson that day. God really can do all things, even change your grade in college.

It was a bit unnerving to tell it..you all know Jake...just not his deep dark secrets...but..if his story is to be told..it should be ALL of it..

Wow...very intense yet also a quite simple scene here, you can certainly feel Jake's emotion, and the backstory lends significant weight to it, too.

OH..little side note..did you notice..his hair is shorter..he being only 18..it was VERY weird drawing it like that..I wanted SOOOO to draw it longer..
