Description
PLEASE DOWNLOAD!! For better detail! When his greatest journey began..the day Jake gave himself to God..and was baptized...The guy in green is Jakes friend John Hamilton...and the other guy is his oldest friend turned pastor...Phil Strack (for those of you who remember my last rendition of Phil..I revamped his looks..he doenst look like a girl anymore with his 80's mullet..
Jake is Phils first baptism..so this means alot to both of them...theyve been thru ALOT with each other....child hood foolishness...teen age rebellion...some good and some terrible times......this could be considered the epicenter of their friendship..
So..this is where it started..the choice that led Jake to become who he eventually becomes...the Christian Commander we all know and love..

I think that it's wonderful you would put such a beautiful moment up here on deviantArt for all to see and to share in. Not deviant at all, really - just loving and good.
God bless you for this picture and for doing it in real life as well (it is you in the image, I believe?).
You made me think of my own baptism. I am so glad that I did it, and that I invited friends to see.
So, what did you mean when you said Christian Commander?

THANK you sooo much..Im so glad it touched you so..thats what I love about being here on DA..I can put up pics with hope and faith in them..so people can find them among all the other junk that can be on here..
And no..that isnt me...Jake is somewhat my alter ego (kind of weird , him being that..since I in fact am a girl..) I photomaniped the drawing onto a picture I took of a lake around here, my baptism was in front of the WHOLE congregation of my old church, in something like a big bath tub..I would have liked the lake better..BUT..it still counts..
And after reading your other posts..I think you understand him being a Christian Commander..I know that military and Christian are an odd combination..but..these story ideas have been coming to me for years...and I can finally draw well enough to put them to paper..and now..I have a friend on here.. (DEFINITELY CHECK HER out..she has many other wonderful stories shes working on!!) whos is helping me write them out..for me to better visualize them...working with her has been one of the most spiritually awakening times of my life...having this story were both working together to bring to life..for GOD is AWESOME!!
If I had known ALLLLL that God had planned for Jake when I first drew him in 1986..I never would have believed it..it a total honor to get to draw him..

Thank you so much for the help and explanations;
I'm sorry I took it to be self referential. When I visited your profile I thought from the description that it was being maintained by two people (Jake and yourself), maybe that one person drew and one person coloured..? Thanks for clearing that up
My friends were baptised in the sea but I had a church baptism. I'm glad I did, as a lot of people were there to see it.
Thank you so much for sharing everything, and I'm really glad you found someone so amazing on here that has heklped you so much! God bless you as well, HE Is Awesome, AMEN!

You have NO idea how many people Ive confused having a male screen name..they either think I'm a guy..or as you thought..that two people are working together..Its soo funny getting called dude..or bud..but.its all good!!
AND YAH..it is soo great finding her on here..wasnt looking..never thought this whole Jake idea would ever get off the ground..seems God had other plans..and I couldnt be happier that he chose us to do this..

I remember my baptism...it was in the front of my old church..they MADE me stand in front of EVERYONE and give a testimonial..(you can tell it meant alot to me to get Baptised..there isnt much that could get me up in front of 100s of people and talk) Then..as I got in the water..I noticed my Paster had REALLY hairy toes..I was like.."OH MY GOSH..hes a HOBBIT!!!" I know..such Christian thoughts then he and the Youth Pastor slammed dunked me into the water..and then having to run thru the cellar to get my dry clothes on..IT WAS FREEZING in the cellar..and wet clothes and cold DONT mix..BUT..all in all..it was the GREATEST DAY EVER..

LOL "He's a hobbit"! I was the first to be baptized out of 35-40 people in our church's auditorium, in front of 800 people, under really bright lights...I was so nervous! We told the pastor briefly why we wanted to be baptized, so he sort of gave my testimonial, but still, if I didn't truly believe God placed it on my heart to get baptized, there is no other reason I would've gone through all of it! But it was one of the best days for me, too.

Yah..I was just thinking I should give you all of Jakes back story....Ive been musing on his whole "coming to God" story...what drug him down to the level where he knew he couldnt go on anymore with out God....Ill write out all of his likes..dislikes..things that make him..HIM..and send them to you...you cant write stories if you dont have all the basics
STILL..take ALL the time you need..I really dont want you to feel you have to rush this at all..I know I gave you a big story to deal with...dont want it to be overwhelming!!
SOO glad you like..THANKS!!!

It's a really nice drawing Julie
My friend got baptised in a lake-ish place too. Sadly he is very much confused right now and he doesn't really seem to believe in God or Jesus (anymore).
My own baptism was in church in a small pool. It was a really great day, as were the weeks leading up to it

THANKS RAy!!
My baptism was in front of our church..in a pool like yours...I was soo scared..cause they made us make a statement as to why we wanted to be baptised...to the WHOLE CHURCH..I do NOT like public speaking....another thing I remember about it..was my Pastor had REALLLLY hairy toes...
It was a REALLY great day though..
Sorry to hear about your friend ..I send up a prayer for him!

Aww Well, not everyone is good at public speaking, it's understandable.
I, of course, ruled and even managed to throw in a couple of jokes.
It helps to realize that each and every person in church had to or has to do the public speaking thing at some point. And it also helps that church people are less likely to laugh at you
