Description A thorn, to prove a point *bows*

The original piece is here [link] an interesting and quite beautiful photograph by the artist, ~UrDisasterousStock .

The 'inspiration' for this work is here [link] a simple colour-modification by ~elvenvampire .

I created this using LivePix, a program now over nine years old, in half an hour's amateur experimentation, on a PC crashing constantly with an overheated processor... Simply to prove a point

Miss vampire receieved 103 comments and 100 favourites upon her work because she's a busy little bee who runs around deviantart looking for friends, so it seems... She boasts this vast number of favourites in her latest frontpage journal.

When her work is merely a colour edit of a much less popular piece, and a 100-strong horde of dim witted teenagers run to her commentbox to scream 'OMFG ITS BEAUIEUTIFUL HOW DID U DO IT?!?!' to be told the obvious, that she.. turned.. the rose.. grey..? And she dares to declare pride in this?

*chuckles*

I created mine with a little more attention to detail, and a full awareness of it's faults. I assure you, were I to care for stock-art manipulation, and had I the software, I'd have put far more effort into this.

Ah well... Please, if you like this work, do not favourite it! It's simple and created not as art but as an experiment with popularity. Please, however, post me your opinions in the comments section.

Thankyou for viewing...

- Jakkar.

The red in this picture is incredible.
Well done.

O.O

I did that with a greetings card making program that was released in 1995.. This piece was a protest, rather than art, to show that I could make such a cheap photomanip and do it better than the fool who made the original, and still not get the same popularity due to their manipulative social habits.

Didn't go very well, as this is my single most popular piece of work >.< It's terrible though!

how modest.

I know what you're talking about though, it's just, it was not a reason why I commented, to acknowledge this protest of yours. I react to rich colours like a small child does, lively *smiles* and the richness of the red here got my utter attention.

*smiles* Well I fear the credit for that 'idea' goes to the original maker of this clichΓ©d piece... Though I did render the blood-drops in far more intricate detail, and added a few they missed out. I -love- the use of red and black..

I noticed you're so fond of red. And I like it.

I'd add to this "duo" violet...and there you have the (un)holy Trinity.

I think im going to favourite this now, because you said not to and im feeling rebellious today.

I agree with silent-realm.. that blood looks very squidgy and pokeable...

I didn't make the blood

This is a political statement regarding someone else's work.. I would not myself do this kind of artwork.

OMG hun..i totally agree with you, somebody who has the main idea, doesn't get the credit and eveyrthing with the whole package, and then somebody else "borrows" the idea and gets all this praise for it, when its quite obvious that yeh...well we know what were talkin bout.

And about your piece hun..i think your attention to detail is exquisite and i have done a similar deviation to this in the past, were i too know that i gray scaled the actualy rose and left everything in colour . I like the *blood* it looks gooey and i just wanna poke it ^_____^ You have done some excellent photomanipulating wiht this work

See Ya hun.. *waves*

looked at your site becuase of the stuff that you wrote on Citys diary after the chavs got her. Know a bit about Swansea and can just imagine the greif you might get there for looking like you do ( good look btw) so stayed to read more. Well that and my home is Coventry one of the arch capitials of chavs!! Citys lives abou 8 miles away in more gentele Leamington.
Enjoyed your words in other stuff however for this really enjoyed the tone and the cynicism it contained. Its really good to see someone put these type of things into word. There are all type of genres where this happens- e.g do any manga or fan art and all of a sudden you are the best and its oh so wonderful too.
I do have to say however that these are the people who "play the game"-this gall me to type this as its all bolloxs really. Sometimes they get found that it is all veneer and no substance however most people are quite shallow and they don't look for the substance.
Just be true to yourself- you may decide that its fun to pretend to play the game while actually laughing yur soxs off at the shallowness of people- its actually quite fun as long as you remember its all a game

*grins* Thanks for an intelligent comment. Did you SEE how many favourites and comments this piece got? It's a joke, and it's the most popular piece i've done! This is a parody work designed to show the shallowness of the community, and damnit they proved it well O.O

Ah, you live in Chaventry hmm? Good to know it's a bad place to be. I'll make sure I don't end up there

Thanks again for the comment, Blissflowers

*grins* back- yes I did- ironic really. Love the way your mind works so put you on my watch
Cov isn't all Chav like- although going there yesterday did show a lot of them coming out for Xmas shopping. Parts of it are ok I guess like where I live- trouble is a lot of it is to do with poverty etc, quite a bit of that here- not quite as much as your part of Wales but pretty close. Depends what you do in Coventry really- couple of good unis some places to work and some good people.
not sure where I'd like to live I'm here because I was born here and although I've done the uni etc stuff and now work outside the city i choose to stay here ( Maybe get a flat down in London some day as well- just saving those many millions of pennies- lol). I do get chance to travel a bit and some parts are better than others, some people are better than others. Suppose that here I have a base while I travel around a bit.

Was in Cardiff earlier this year and managed the Gower which is always fun- and beautiful- didn't take my camara *sigh* and finally maanged to get to the worms head at the end of the peninsula- scrambling over the barnicals- made me shudder thinking about keel hauling- yuck. Then travelled up the valleys and remembered how much grief Wales has had. Don't really know Swansea well- love your comment about the place and the people
look forward to seeing more of your work soon Jakkar
take care

Thankyou very much for the watch Blissflowers. I love Gower too, though I missed my chance to climb down worms head a few years ago. I've seen a fair bit of the place though

Wish I had someone to go wandering with! But I can find nothing but abusive chavs here... Them and no-one else, it seems. Have never had a true friend, off the net.

I am liable to enter poverty anyway... I don't work, I quit school four years early, and am too intelligent but rebellious for my own good >.<

You?

blissflowers In reply to Jakkar [2005-12-05 00:02:05 +0000 UTC]

I was lucky with the worms head happend to be there when the tide was out and it was a fine day. Mostly I wander with myself, sometimes with my friend, sorry that you haven't anyone to wander with I don't make friends very easily never have just too odd I guess- know loads of people through my job and what I do -made friends through DA- breaks down the geographical barriers and you can select the type of people like you or who you like.
four years early- wow- shame to waste that intelligence- i can see it already- sometimes going through the motions gives you a freedom later- this is the way i did it. Hated school did , barely, what was required to get to uni, got job found a passion for public health and reducing health inequalities- I hate inequity with a passion, did some more studying, worked with some great communities got a good job. Won;t bore you - we get to know each other better i'll tell you. Guess I was lucky.
So what next for you? it must be hard with that mind of yours or is there something that you are doing to occupy yourself? You've got me interested.
anyway better go now. Talk soon I hope
take care

I made some efforts to make the blood dark and opaque, but with a nine year old greetings card program, that's not quite so easy as it may sound.

Even Elven's work isn't... Without merit. It's the fact she boasts so grossly of it's unwarranted popularity, that both sickened and inspired me to recreate the rose.

oy, i think i like elvenvampire a bit better cuz she wasnt trying to spite or show off with it. dont you find it at all pointless to be doing this and a bit immature? she did give credit to the artist The colors are too bright for the rose and give you a headache if u look for any amount of time. I was looking at the Burning Clock of Time edits u did and they seem too bright too, u might want to keep the contrast between the light and dark a little less so it doesnt drive ppls eyes into insanity.
do everyone a favor and dont try to get attention brought to your page by insulting someone that has many people watching him or her. its just plain bullshit.

*raises eyebrow*

I believe I'm entitled to both my opinion and to what art I create. I've expressed strong views but have at no point delivered any intentional insult.

As past stated, I felt an urge to show the community what a pit of group-masturbation dA is in terms of favourites and comments... It's not how good you are, it's how many dim witted teens you can drag to your site, the stupider the better.

Miss vampire clearly makes a small living, favouriting everything left right and center and making over five thousand comments on other works. In my 15 months here I can say those works I have favourited are truly the only works I've felt worthy of the term 'favourite'...

Elven is, for lack of a better term, an evident attention whore

My work is indeed bright, vibrant, headache inducing.

Please, I am using a program designed to create greetings cards that is copyrighted '1996'.
