The 'inspiration' for this work is here [link] a simple colour-modification by ~elvenvampire .
I created this using LivePix, a program now over nine years old, in half an hour's amateur experimentation, on a PC crashing constantly with an overheated processor... Simply to prove a point
Miss vampire receieved 103 comments and 100 favourites upon her work because she's a busy little bee who runs around deviantart looking for friends, so it seems... She boasts this vast number of favourites in her latest frontpage journal.
When her work is merely a colour edit of a much less popular piece, and a 100-strong horde of dim witted teenagers run to her commentbox to scream 'OMFG ITS BEAUIEUTIFUL HOW DID U DO IT?!?!' to be told the obvious, that she.. turned.. the rose.. grey..? And she dares to declare pride in this?
*chuckles*
I created mine with a little more attention to detail, and a full awareness of it's faults. I assure you, were I to care for stock-art manipulation, and had I the software, I'd have put far more effort into this.
Ah well... Please, if you like this work, do not favourite it! It's simple and created not as art but as an experiment with popularity. Please, however, post me your opinions in the comments section.

Fortunately it gets you comments and page views, unfortunately for people like me who can't be arsed doing anything like that we only make a few peeps as friends, its slowly growing but hopefully will have a two more friends on my list in a few months

I've engaged a little around the community lately as I was getting no attention on my works.. I think there's a slight difference however.
She has made five thousand comments on other users work, no doubt of the 'nice favourite kthxbye' variety... O.o

You'd be amazed how much whoring yourself out helps boost pageviews/comments/favs. So does doing something wrong; I found that one out on my own, heh. Don't -ever- try to bring humor to a largely political American piece of artwork; fuckin' freaks x__X
Anywho, pieces like this are considered a-fucking-mazing by the masses because all they do is take shitty webcam pics of their selves in emo poses, and haven't a -clue- how to do such a thing. Damn the blabbering masses of idiots that seem to inhabit every corner of the internet *hides*

Now I know ~elvenvampire personaly and I can say with great confidence that she is not emo in any way, shape or form. She is a little bit goth, but that doesn't mean she wants to got cutting herself every other day. So I think you all really need to reserve judgment about people until after you actually know a little about them.

Exxxactly...
Even dA is nothing but a fortress for anime-obsessed 12 year olds and dramatic vampire kids trying to express how 'special' they are. For attention or purely in naive wonder they will regard shit as gold just because it's shiny.
I base much of my opinion on a work of art not upon it's beauty, but upon how much effort and skill it evidently required to craft.

I really like what you've done here better than the pieces you've linked to. I think you should recognize that it is your art, since you did do it differently, and that's what makes it better! The only reason I don't think I'd fav it is because the full view is so extreemly pixilated. If you found a way to fix that up, i'd go for it!

I don't wish to fix this image or make it look good in any way, like I said, it's not created as art.
The pixellation, of course, is down to the original photograph and the incapabilities of my old software (I use LivePix, and save my images by screencapping them with Hypersnap DX).
