Description
Ok, here is my cover for a story centered on Darth Cognus. I wanted to try to do something different with this artwork. Instead of using the official artwork of Darth Cognus like I have with my Darth Zannah covers (No, the isn't a typo. I do have a cover for another Darth Zannah story.), I thought I might try leaving Cognus out. But if people want Cognus on the cover, I will add her in.So, the idea for the story is that we see the disagreement between Cognus and Darth Millennial and what happens after Millennial is expelled from the Order of the Sith Lords. We get to meet Darth Cognus' second apprentice and learn how Cognus finally meets her end. We also see the beginning of Millennial's group, The Prophets of the Dark Side.
Let me know that you think of this cover and possible story.
(Star Wars belongs to Lucasfilm and Disney.)

!Post-Skywalker Family! I don't believe anyone is really up to writing about a Star Wars Future without Skywalkers, but it would be more realistic. Given enough time, the Force would move on to others, as it did before. The whole Skywalker name would be all but forgotten. They're still legendary in Cade's time. That wouldn't stay the same. And to be perfectly honest, I have no idea myself what a future without Skywalkers, and possibly without Jedi or Sith "As We Knew Them", would look like.

Idea:
It is told in Darth Plagueis that there are 30 mainline Dark Lords of the Sith in succession from Darth Bane to Darth Sidious. We can assume this
does not count Darth Millennial or Darth Venamis or any other "competing" Darths. Using clues we can fill in the number of Sith in each gap of unknowns.
I propose A Rule of Three to go with Darth Bane's Rule of Two:
The Star Wars Universe is compromised of Trilogies of Trilogies.
Therefore, after considering playing with titles named after other Darths, I considered that, in order to ''kick off'' the Last 1000 Years of the Old Republic, Darth Bane's Triumph should be celebrated by naming not just one Trilogy after him, but THREE. A Trilogy of Trilogies. Truly a Darth Bane Saga.
Of course, other Dark Lords would have to have their names still worked in somehow. I considered naming a book after Darth Zannah, but it's obvious that even though she may have been powerful enough in one way to destroy and replace Bane, if it took 1000 years, she was not quite equal to being as visionary as Bane herself. I decided that there should be a pattern that every 3 Sith Lords, there would be a visionary as great as Darth Bane who would leap forward, recovering lost progress and paving new ways and opportunities for the Dark Side. And in the between periods, the Sith would be under constant threat of internal combustion. Predictably so.
A Saga is composed of a Trilogy of Trilogies, so there should be a Darth Bane Saga.
But why not carry the Rule of Three further? A Trilogy of Sagas?
So therefore:
There is the DARTH BANE SAGA, which chronicles the Order of the Sith Lords getting its footing in the aftermath of the Battle of Ruusan.
By the end of the first Trilogy, the Sith are fragile enough that mere discovery would be guaranteed to ruin them.
With the Second Trilogy, the Sith have a foundation not as easily eradicated.
Finally the Third Trilogy guarantees the future of the Sith and their success by ensuring their indefinite obscurity until they're prepared.
===============================================================================
THE DARTH BANE SAGA
1st DARTH BANE Trilogy: 3 Sith Lords, Bane, Zannah, and Cognus
POV: Bane (#1)
Darth Bane: Path of Destruction- How Darth Bane destroyed himself and the Brotherhood of Darkness and remade them.
Darth Bane: Rule of Two- How Darth Bane defined the future of the Sith.
Darth Bane: Dynasty of Evil- How Darth Zannah fulfilled the Rule.
2nd DARTH BANE Trilogy: 3 Sith Lords, Zannah, Cognus, Millennial (unlisted), and Umbra
POV: Cognus (#2)
Darth Bane: The Broken Rule- How Darth Zannah found Darths Cognus and Darth Millennial.
Darth Bane: The Two Masters- How Darth Millennial's Apprentice served Darth Cognus.
Darth Bane: Beneath the Umbra- How Darth Umbra killed Darth Cognus.
3rd DARTH BANE Trilogy: 3 "linear" Sith Lords- Cognus, Umbra, Legacy
POV: Legacy (#3)
Darth Bane: Legacy of Revan- a book about Darth Umbra's apprentice search.
Darth Bane: Legacy of Bane- Umbra's demise by Darth Legacy.
Darth Bane: Legacy of Sith- Darth Legacy creates a holocron.
List of the Dark Lords of the Sith: (Bane, (Zannah, (Cognus), Umbra), Legacy)
3 Triplets
Darth Legacy structure like the three books that included Darth Zannah.
Darth Legacy is the greatest Darth since Darth Bane, as implied by his subtitles.
Originally, I thought Darths Zannah-Legacy should replace Bane's name in the title, instead of be relegated to subtitles, but I realized that while their names should still be in the title, Darth Bane is something like their god, and needed extra recognition.
==============================================================================
1st DARK LORD Trilogy- Legacy, Darth Ominous, Onerous
POV: Legacy (#1)
Dark Lord: Legacy of the Dark- Darth Legacy searches for an apprentice; finds one: Ominous, among the acolytes of the Dark Side!
Dark Lord: Ominous Portents- Apprentice Darth Ominous and the Prophets of the Dark Side conspire?
Dark Lord: Onerous Burdens- Weakened by Ominous, Darth Legacy is dying. Darth Onerous, trained partially by the Prophets of the Dark side, usurps and ascends ahead of them both.
1st STAR WARS Trilogy- Onerous, X, Y.
POV: X (#2)
STAR WARS I: Subtitle- X trains under Onerous
STAR WARS II: Subtitle- X kills Onerous
STAR WARS III: Subtitle- Y kills X. Darth Z named.

any attempt to really speculate beyond Darth Legacy is more the realm of pure fanfiction that can't be supported strongly from canon, but I think telling the complete story of Darth Cognus thoroughly, and arriving at the conclusion that the Prophets of the Dark Side must have prophecied, and that there would rise another Sith as fully powerful and visionary and active as Darth Bane, progressing the Great Plan, I think all of that needs to be written down by someone.
At least consider those parts. Umbra exists mainly for number spacing reasons and because it offered a cool title opportunity.

I don't know what else to incorporate about the Sith Empire into the story. Most because the The Old Republic game is still going and more stuff is being added in. Secondly, given what is known about how the Darth Millennial started his cult, I don't know if anything from the Sith Empire had any effect on them. But I haven't written an outline yet, so that may change.

In my mockup of the timeline for the Banite Sith, Darth Vectivus is the 10th Dark Lord of the Sith. I have dubbed his master with the name Darth Angee. The name comes from the German word, angeekelt, which means disgusted.

I understand I went crazy and my idea is too big--- but I think the Darth Cognus/Millennial stuff has a lot of room for exploration and is one of the few periods as important as Bane and Plagueis.
I actually think Darth Zannah is a lesser Darth and needs to recognize in part that she was somewhat lucky.
It's possible for the Sith line to weaken with a Darth taking over that wasn't yet surpassing the Master. I think this happened only a few times, but happened. Zannah would be an example. Between Tenebrous, Plagueis, and Sidious, it is obvious that one of them should not have become Darth by Bane's standard because they resulted in Vader. But I'm not sure which. And anyway the Jedi side of the Force was more powerful than the Dark in the end. Perhaps Vader was inevitable.

Cognus, my supposed ''Umbra'', and LEGACY would be some of the most crucial Sith, because the Milennial Schism needs to be addressed with extreme prejudice....and yet we know the Prophets survived. But it can't just be ''off their radar''. They did something. It was a priority.

The name for Vectivus' master seemed fitting given the way Vectivus acts. Very un-Sith like.

That's true. Vectivus was perhaps one of the only Sith of the Baneite age that didn't collaborate to destroy the republic.

I wouldn't say just Vectivus. In the Plagueis novel, it did state that some Sith of the Bane line were more interested in securing an heir then ripping down the Republic.
