Duchess was heartbroken when Pip & Emma told her about the Queen. Everyone was deeply sad that day. Even though Duchess was saddened that Her Majesty was gone, she knew she had a great reign and that King Charles III would do the country proud.Just a little something to pay respect to her majesty, the Queen.
Also, this is non-canon to Sodor Stories since this takes place a few decades after the latest stories (which take place in 1976 BTW)
