Hello,
Could you tell me where I can find a tutorial that allowed you to make the head terminator.
I thank you in advance

Hi, I don't do CGI, the Terminator head and body are a 15 inch tall Terminator model I purchased on amazon. I then photographed the terminator and the human model in the same positions and the same light. So that is how it is done.

Nice. Saw this over at Miss Fawn's, said I should ask you about the hardware.

Which hardware? The gun of the hyper alloy chassis?

Hyper alloy? You've seen too much sci-fi, dude. There's no such thing as a "hyper" alloy, watching that much crap must be rotting you're brain . So what's the rifle? I don't recognize the muzzle profile at all.

No such thing as hyper alloy??? Man, I knew I shouldn't have invested in that hyper alloy company in Russia. Live and learn. As for the Gun, you'll get a better look at it in the next image in the series, whenever I get around to it.

Yeah, first, before investing in a tech company, talk to an engineer. We all know there is no hyper alloy, and anybody trying to sell you "Alloy Steel" like its a big thing is ripping you off. All steel is an alloy. Secondly, Russia? Are you nuts! Never invest in a Russian company, they're all owned by the Government. If you're lucky you can take them to court at the UN. Maybe you'll get your money back as a small piece of Siberia.

I assume from that, hat you know I'm joking. But hyper alloy will probably exist soon, just as many of the tech toys in the first star trek series came to be real. Flip phones, automatic-open doors, tazers, and anti gravity boots all came from Roddenberry's imagination. Now I suppose you will tell me anti gravity boots aren't real either!

No, just that "hyper" alloy is a non-technical marketing term. No references to any specs like load strength, composition, etc, as opposed to "Crome Steel", which would be steel with chromium in it. Now, here's a question for you. In the classic "duplicate" episode, why didn't they just set phasers to stun, shoot everyone, and sort it out later?

What fun would that have been? It more fun to watch them duke it out.
As for the "marketing term", I spent some time in advertising and even taught marketing at one point, so I do get the purposeful ambiguity thing. People don't need to know specifics to want it. Hyper alloy sounds tough, light weight, zero maintenance, bullet proof and corrosion free. I want it!

Yes, it is fun, but after the first few its way too predictable. I love Trek, but I like common sense too. Now, as for marketing, which I realize I generally suck at, what can you do with "Hyper Tape"?

Sounds even better than gecko tape. That was supposed to be the next big thing- don't remember that happening! As for Star Trek, loved it when young. Now there is a lot of sci-fi that is better in my opinion. Terminator would be in that category, although it isn't perfect. I don't like to criticize too much though, I love sci-fi and I know there is a big universe and a long future for us to imagine.

I know the feeling. You watch the new BSG? Some of the best Post-Golden age stuff I've seen in a while. If you like to read try John Ringo. Its mostly Military SF, and he doesn't know alot about physics, but he's got a bunch of actual scientist buddies who check that stuff for him.

Battlestar was the very best Sci-Fi ever; in my opinion. I was totally blown away by that series. It was also the worst Sci-Fi ever, the first time around, 20 years ago. It was insufferably bad. So it is also the best salvage of an old Sci-Fi franchise

Not bad, though the tones for where the terminator and model images were meshed seems a little off. Particularly at the bridge of the nose, the shoulder, inside of the elbow, and at the stomach where the spine shows through. As for how to fix them, I'm not sure, those are just the points that didn't seem to mesh with the rest of the picture.
Other than those it's very good looking.

Never said I could, for I am a man of mechanical inclinations of design and construction. I was just offering a general critique of things that caught my eye. Sorry if you took offense at my comments; none was meant.
p.s. If you do not want or wish for honest constructive criticism then sometimes it is better to disable the comments feature.

Well, I don't ever leave anything but very positive comments on the work of others, so maybe it is just my personal bias. I think that if someone wants a detailed critique, they will check the box for detailed critiques- an option very few people ever use when they post. Could it be that most people don't want unsolicited negative criticisms? I think it may be so. And I do really believe that we shouldn't criticize unless we can do better ourselves. If you can't do better yourself, then you are no expert and you have no idea how hard it was to get it to where it is, much less how to get it better. I taught photography at college level for many years, and I did know how to do better than the students, but I still never appreciated having to give them negative criticisms. I would always start out by looking for what was right with the work and praising that, before lightly stating what might be improved. You catch more flies with honey than with shit in my opinion. I'm not scolding you BTW, just trying to explain why I answered you so directly the first time. All of this is to essentially repeat my first answer.

Wow, detailed.
I don't usually throw in my two cents unless something catches my eye. Though I do understand how you feel on the positive feedback, and it was not my intention for it to sound negative, feedback on only that which you have done correctly rarely leads to improvement, so, to me at least, it is important to acknowledge all feedback as long as it is not derogatory.
Most of my time on deviant art is boredom related so I rarely comment. But I do have an idea of what goes into video and photo editing, seeing as the little I can do is mostly self taught. Mostly when I comment its because something doesn't fit with the rest of the picture and even though I may not know or even care how to fix it, that person may. Attention to detail is important in my job so I have a tendency to spot the most random things that are incorrect, odd, or different. Yes, it annoys me as well as everyone else. But it helps pay the bills.
So now that you've dragged me out of my hole and I've awakened the beast in you, and we've done our little duel with words, I would like to allow you to go back to taking pretty pictures that I can look at every once in a while, if you would care to allow me to go back to lurking in the shadows.

agreed, thats alot harder than it looks. even just doing fake cuts can take hours. let alone the skin and torn skin you had to create while gradating into metal and machine...
very well done. i like this series of yours alot. and now that ive learned studio lighting i appreciate your work more. never too much light, never not enough, it always matches your key.

Thanks Jason, glad you appreciate my lighting as well as the effects in this series. Yea, as you know, I generally do as much as I can with real photography, and as little digital manipulation as possible. I think that is the best approach to get good results reliably. But there are times when I simply don't have the resources to do things without lots of digital work. For example, I'm not sure if there are any movie-quality horror make-up artists within 100 miles of me, but unless one was here and willing to donate their labor, that would be out of my budget anyway. In truth, I think that even in the Terminator movies and TV series, the effects often look a little less than perfect. It is not easy to do these effects, but I do think I got them done pretty well, all things considered. Fawn did her part so very well too! I'm going to finish at least one more terminator image soon.

The machine parts are part of an actual terminator toy I have. I photographed him in the same position and light.
