Description Eat the Press, Part Three
by JamesE82

An abandoned chemical plant, the West End, Angel Falls…

“The überuntoten was a bit late arriving at the scene,” the thin man said. “While en rout it apparently mistook a bystander for the target, and was occupied with him for a short while.”

The silent, utterly still figure on the catwalk did not ask what had happened to the bystander--her eyes did not even give a sign that she was hearing the report.

Concern that a man may have been murdered by one of her undead servants did not enter the her mind for an instant, Shelby St. Paul was certain. She was not sure of much when it came to the woman in the gray surgeon’s smock and black metal face mask looking down on them, but she was positive that feelings of distress for the innocent were not at all a priority for Dr. Josefine Mengele.

“The reporter,” another servant of the doctor said. Other than her name being Bianca Haight, and that she was a harsh and ill-tempered woman in her late twenties, Shelby did not know much about her. Shelby glanced at her as Bianca, leaning against a piece of machinery, glared at the thin man. “What about him?”

“Dead,” the thin man, who’s name Shelby had never heard, said. “John Wallace escaped his apartment building with the help of a police detective, but the überuntoten was able to follow them into a subway tunnel and shoot him to death. The detective survived thanks to some unusually skillful maneuvering; the überuntoten‘s helmet camera recorded everything up until it was forced to collapse the tunnel with a rocket in order to evade the detective, who was bent on giving pursuit.”

“Fascinating,” Bianca sighed. “But if the doktor wants a detective story, she’ll read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.” The brunette pushed off of the dead machine she was leaning against with an elbow and strode forward, polished black boots clomping on the factory’s cement floor. “The reporter is dead; that’s all that matters.”

If the thin man with the strange, grayish complexion was insulted by Bianca’s tone, he showed no sign of it. Emotionless, Shelby thought. No wonder Mengele likes him… if she likes anyone on earth, anyway. Shelby doubted she did, and wondered why the German surgeon kept someone as volatile and outspoken as the Haight woman around. Was she beyond caring how her underlings behaved?

As if sensing she was being thought about, the blunt brunette turned her eyes towards Shelby. “And you?” Bianca asked, striding past the thin man and towards her. “Where was the Crimson Cunt through all this?”

Shelby cleared her throat. “Downtown,” she said, choosing to look at Haight as opposed to the unnerving figure on the catwalk. “There was an incident at the Occupy Angel Falls encampment. It seems some explosives had been found, and a plot to use the device to try and destroy a portion of the financial district was underway. As she was closest to the scene, the police allowed the Crimson Conservative to try to dispose of the bomb. When she-”

Many things happened in the same instant then. Bianca’s boot knocking Shelby to the ground before the other woman dove for cover… gunfire… the thin man’s body jerking wildly… the sound of twin motorized saws springing to life…

From the ground Shelby’s eyes were drawn to Josefine Mengele, who was kicking off the railing of the catwalk with her foot, darting through the air, and planting the other foot against a towering piece of machinery, in turn kicking off of that. The spark of ricocheting rounds flickered after her, but the doctor was too fast for the gunman to get a bead on as Mengele pinballed off machinery and the nearest factory wall. Then she touched down on the floor, but the instant her boots landed, she was up, cart wheeling and twisting through the air across Shelby’s field of vision. In an impossibly short amount of time she was on top of the gunman.

And the gunman went to pieces.

An efficient slayer, Dr. Mengele’s saws became silent as soon as the severed body parts of the man behind the ambush plopped to the floor. The killer stood looking at the pile of limbs and bloody torso segments, unblinking, without a drop of any sort of emotion in her icy blue eyes.

Bianca Haight was at her boss’ side in a flash. “Mossad,” she said, picking up the arm gripping a modified Uzi in its lifeless hand. “Swarthy bastard--right out of Israel. And the damage those bullets caused…” She shook the dead hand free, letting it join the rest of the body on the bloody ground. “Tungsten,” she said after detaching the weapon’s long magazine and examining the remaining rounds. “Deep penetration. They wanted you aerated, boss.”

The sultry brunette glanced to Shelby’s right, and Shelby followed her eyes. She opened her mouth to scream, but the shock of what had just happened made that impossible.

“Nothing life-threatening,” the thin man said, getting to his feet as black blood oozed from two gaping wounds in his chest.

“Good,” Haight said, “’cause we’re clearing out.” She looked at Dr. Mengele, who nodded. “Spread the word,” Bianca said to the man. “We’re leaving. Standard evacuation, Plan C.”

Both Bianca and the thin man got on their radios and started giving orders, their voices thankfully drowning out the sound of blood dripping from the gory surgical saws spattering onto the ground.

I didn’t sign up for this, Shelby St. Paul thought, having an imaginary venting session with her employer. I was only supposed to monitor that redheaded behemoth, not get shot at by Israeli secret agents and be surrounded by zombies. Janet Raison, what have you gotten me into?

She looked from the statue-still, red-splattered form of the doctor, to the ruined human on the floor. A wave of nausea passed over her like an oncoming fever, but then the doctor turned and walked off, replacing the motorized saws into the sheaths on her back as she went.

Though there was still a pile of body parts on the ground, and a man ten feet away from her who should have been dead standing erect and speaking calmly into a handheld radio, no longer being in the presence of Josefine Mengele was enough to make the nausea fade a great deal.

First, though I’m sure you recognize the unmistakable style, the amazing is behind this depiction of my diabolical Nazi doktor as she springs into action. I’m through messing around with you people: Go to his page and @$#%ing commission him!

Second, this takes place in the city of , land of zombies, bomb-defusing Amazons, flying bullets, and swinging surgical saws… and so much more.

Dr. Josefine Mengele and the mentioned Crimson Conservative are my creations, © 2009.

Comments welcome, even if it’s just to engage in a bit of a trivia contest. The name Bianca Haight was inspired by two sources: the Joker, Bianca Steeplechase, from the Thrill Kill comic miniseries (yes, in an alternate DC reality, the Joker is a babe), and Haight from a violent, atmospheric game I got into on the Playstation 2. Any ideas on what that game was?

Interesting story and give me a little more to learn about Connie's handywork and one of her many opponents as well...

I always see with a mask and have to remember that Connie destroyed her lower jaw.

Holy crap, now she is one evil looking cu... ummmm cutey, but why is she directing airplanes in for a landing?

Nice continuation and when body parts are involved it is definitely time to reevaluate your participation.

Josefine certainly is a major cu-uh… customer services representative… yeah, that’s what I was gonna say…

With the economy the way it is, I guess you take work where you can find it, even if it means management is a super-zombie who dices people into a dozen pieces in the blink of an eye.

It’s been a while since “Feline and Fraulein,” hasn’t it? And I never pegged Großvater Mengele as the sentimental type…

Ok, so maybe this isn`t the same thing. But who knows where this guy came from? (outside of you)...

That was an interesting story, but you’re right, this guy’s ichor is born of a perversion of science, not magic.

Thanks for taking the time to read this little segment, and for commenting.

Yeah, I can’t say he’s the most inspired character--maybe I’ll develop him more later, as it seems he’ll be around for a while with that durable body of his.

Josefine was a deadly combatant before she began altering her own body; now she is a science-born slaughter machine.

Well he's also similar in one or two superfical ways to a character I'm about to introduce. That's making me rethink my approach...

Please don’t let him alter your idea in the least; this guy is so undeveloped that he doesn’t even have a name, and I may never even use him again, so do whatever you want.

Now this wouldn't be hard for a telepath to figure out (assuming Josefine hasn't done something to her brain to make her mind unreadable) but the rest of us must wonder what goes on in her mind. Nasty, gross, bloody things, no doubt.. But also plans within conspiracies. For all the horrible things she's done, there's more of it that she keeps tucked away inside her. And that's pretty darned scary, if you ask me.

During my time here, you’ve given me some of the greatest praise, and thought-provoking comments I’ve ever gotten, you know that?

Any telepath trying to probe Mengele’s mind would likely feel the need for a shower afterwards, like they had been stumbling around an old crypt on a moonless night and are covered in cobwebs and decay dust.

Thank you for honoring me by saying Josefine’s a creepy creature!

Well, it is my pleasure to provide such input for you, since your inventions are quite thought-provoking to me as well. Not to mention a great deal of fun to read about.

That sounds like a euphemism for the kind of filth they'd imagine they were covered in after being in Josefine's presence for any amount of time. Still, I'd imagine some telepaths would risk it just to pry the information out of her, but then be driven to insanity afterwards. Not to mention the risk involved in getting close enough to attempt it, being that she is a walking cuisinart, and the salad-to-be is anyone who gets that close.. Ok, maybe it is a bad idea.

Judging from her eyes, I'd say that the doc doesn't get much sleep.

A very nice meat grinding session indeed! Shelby, my advice to you is if you're going to quit, just quit. Don't you dare discuss it with your boss. The sane step would be to find gainful employment with Connie instead.

Yeah, Josefine has altered her body so much, she’s beyond the need for much food, water, or rest at all. A little beauty sleep couldn’t hurt her face, though, could it?

And you’re right; usually it’s standard to put in your two weeks notice, but that may not go over well with a boss like the granddaughter of World War Two’s Dr. Mengele.

It seems like there's quite a few legacies left over from WWII, isn't there?

It makes me wonder what would happen if the granddaughter of the butcher ever met the possible granddaughter of Ilsa from a different dimension?

In real life, communism is a stain leaking forth from history to darken modern life and imperil freedom. Fiction’s favorite source of baddies has a tendency to be Nazism, though.

When it comes to Josefine meeting your Hauptmann, I’m afraid any analytical session would bear no fruit. Mengele is not an introspective person, and a dry well when it comes to emotion, meaning she would see no need to climb on the couch and complain that Daddy never gave her a pony for her sweet sixteenth. I am certainly not saying our doctors should never cross paths, however.

Zespara In reply to JamesE82 [2012-09-01 05:12:01 +0000 UTC]

It's true that Nazism is the soup du jour when it comes to left-wing evil enemies for comics and fictional writings. What really grinds my gears is when the Left make it sound like Nazism is a right-wing phenomena when it clearly is the opposite.

Don't worry, Sheila would never try to analyze Josefine (Sorry, I keep thinking of the Comet cleanser lady). She knows exactly what type of person Mengele is just by simple observation if they ever met. It's the same reason that applies to Hotrod's Poison. It doesn't mean that they wouldn't cross paths, 'tis true.

Btw, I loved Ann Coulter's latest column.

Also, you really need to read the note that I sent to you over a month ago. I've noticed that it's still marked unread.

Yeah, those big ol’ conservative Nazis were all about personal liberty and limited government, weren’t they?

Speaking of Ann, they’ve moved up the release date of her next book! She looks amazing on the cover… Seems like I’ll be buying a movie (The Avengers) and a book that Tuesday.

We sorta addressed the topic of the note in a comment you made, so I… forgot about the note, sorry.

Mengele is an astounding scientific genius, and after constantly performing surgeries on herself, has made her own body her greatest masterpiece. She was a deadly woman before, but now…

I started writing this story a couple weeks ago, abandoned it, and just picked it up and finished the thing in the last hour, so I’m very appreciative of the feedback. And yes, you are required to commission --the sooner the better!
