Description
An iconic restaurant in Jemaa el-Fnaa square, Café Restaurant Argana was the target of the 2011 Marrakesh bombing which occurred on April 28, 2011. The bomb which was concealed inside a backpack went off slightly before noon, 17 people died and 25 more people were injured during the attack. On October 28, 2011 9 people were found guilty in court in Rabat, Morocco, one of them receiving a death sentence, another was sentenced to life in prison and the rest received lesser sentences for their parts in the bombing.Today this restaurant (being in a very tourist oriented area) is as busy as ever, much like all of the restaurants in the square.
