Description
It was an extremely windy day during the month of October, which is often the case in the Maritimes, I was travelling towards Yarmouth, taking my time visiting other stops along the way. Then a rare sight appeared, THE SUN! I hadn't experienced much sunshine during my 2+ week trip through Atlantic Canada but things were looking promising, so I decided to head straight to Yarmouth in the hopes of catching some exciting light at the Cape Forchu Lighthouse, unfortunately by the time I got there, the sun had disappeared yet again behind a wall of clouds. The Cape Forchu Lighthouse originally built in 1839 was demolished in 1961 and replaced with this current concrete structure. The lighthouse is now a Heritage Property of Nova Scotia and is owned by the municipality after being transferred from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for $1 in 2003.
