I miss Nebraska now, except for the cow poop. lol I like how the light shines on the leaves, it's like a corn leaf ocean.

Thanks.
Lots of corn in Nebraska?

I passed it in the first time, but kept it in my queue to look at it again, it had something I liked...
I like the repeating pattern of the corn field, even if the sky doesn't add much to it, it has a taste, my suggestion on this would be maybe to crop out the sky, or hold only a really tiny part of it in the shot, and emphasize the corn fields?

Well, you aren't the first one to mention the sky and until now I have disagreed with most people but I tried cropping it again and it does look better with less sky. Thanks, I will have to update it soon.

If you want to keep it colour then I'd make the sky yellow, but honestly this would work much better in monochrome with a white sky like that.

I will see what it looks like when converted to black and white. I am not a big fan of altering my landscape images in a drastic manner such as changing the colour of the sky.

For some reason pictures like this make me wonder
how they once thought the world to be flat.

I think it's because it reminds me of a memory.
A friend and I were in a type of
watchtower out in the woods
and it was super tall,
taller than most of the trees,
and when you looked around
it was like you were in a big ball.
It was really nice.
As is your picture.

Different indeed. Liking the light, and clarity through the corn field, but yeah, the white doesn't do it for me either.

Fair enough thank you for your opinion. The bright white blown out sky was the reasoning for submitting this image to be honest and originally it was uncropped with 2/3 white sky and I then determined it to be excessive and cropped it back into landscape format. I never expected it to be popular but I liked it so I submitted it regardless.

lovely light on that foreground but I find that sky rather bland

Thanks. Yes the sky is what I thought most people wouldn't like but I was going for something a little different. Thank you for being honest.

never hurts to experiment and try something new.. and that's why we all post online isn't it, to get some genuine feedback welcome

Yes but sometimes it is difficult to get constructive feedback usually if someone doesn't like your work they just won't say anything and that is not helpful at all.

I think that's partly cos a lot of people seem incapable of differentiating constructive criticism from personal attacks and get all defensive.. have to admit there are a few I don't bother with any more cos when I try to point something out that I've seen, all I get is a barrage of defense and justification! it's the curse of briefly typed text, the helpful sentiment is often lost/misconstrued..

Yes, that's a very good point. I have found though that most of the time if I ask for an honest opinion I will get it.

Hoogard got a similar shot but with a great sky. You edited the sky?

I am by no means done shooting corn fields, they are pretty abundant where I live.
Well I actually just shot the image without a grad filter and that left about 80% of the sky blown out then I used an overexposed image and blended in the few areas that still showed tonality.

I was going for more of a surreal dreamlike feel to the image.

Instant . I grew up in Illinois in the middle of cornfields, so to me it is quite a beauty. I agree that it might not be immediately accessible for some of your fans, but you never know. Good luck! Thanks for the inspiration, I think I'll post a couple of my own from the home town.
