Description
Ice Stalactites and stalagmites formed inside an abandoned train tunnel. Deep inside this pitch black tunnel these incredible ice formations were a pleasant surprise but trying to photograph them proved to be difficult. There were 15 foot icicles hanging from the ceiling, large ice stalagmite mounds on the ground and a wall of solid ice in front of me. I tried to navigate the icy surfaces as best I could without slipping and bumping into one of these huge formations for fear it would all come crumbling down on top of me. It was cold and the humidity was at 100%, when I first arrived my camera's lens had completely fogged over. Once my equipment had acclimatized to the conditions I made my plans to light this overwhelming natural phenomenon and began my photographic process.©James Hackland

It looks to be lit from the side opposite the camera. How did you get in? Was there a service door?
