Description
Worldview Digital Art Book - www.facebook.com/WorldviewBook…Another loose sketch (work in progress) for my book, Worldview. All painted from scratch in PS.
Command Module, ready for liftoff.
Backstory: Command modules are at the heart of all military operations. High-ranking officials direct wargames exercises and real-world campaigns from onboard these slow-moving, deployable hubs. Only the world's largest corporation has access to building such monstrosities as these.

I thought it looked like the top portion of the Sky Fortress Bahamut from Final Fantasy XII.

I wasn't aware of the fortress, but just had a look. I can see a similarity now

Thanks again sci. It's very easy to fall into a particular style, which is why I try not to look at too many other pieces of art for inspiration, otherwise I end up 'duplicating' what I see.

I know what u mean,
but still a few manage to create their own style
even with 'prefabricated' stuff like Daz 3D
& what true artistst seperates from the hobbyists i guess
Do u use 3D blocks/shapes before u paint them over?
cause they're always very slick & well executed

I the photoshop perspective grid here and there to get some basic shapes in, yes. Then I just improvise the rest.
I used to use the grid a lot more, but it ends up being too time consuming. It's easy to get too obsessed with details which aren't really necessary.

Always curious to different techniques U got a point there,
it's what i loved about Ralph Mcquarrie, he was master in simulating details
to epic proportions with only a few lines & shadows ... the art of omission

Yes, I'd love to able to paint like that. The illusion of details without having to...detail.

Haha yes who wouldn't want that?
I've tried, but not doing details, isn't exactly my best asset
