Description The 7th image I have created for MaiaGame maiagame.com/media.php About 5 days work. This image is not available to buy as it's copyrighted by the client.

All created from scratch in Photoshop CS5 Extended. Just like usual, I blocked in very basic shapes and used the vanishing point tool to get the perspective set up. The lasso tools are essential for the sharp edges. To get the reflections correct I used the vanishing point tool to accurately measure distances etc.

Nice one - you should have seen the original dirt i was gonna put there, human excrement, vomit etc. It was gonna be a real shocker with a naked man lying on the floor having a seizure but I just couldn't go through with it and the man would be too difficult for me to draw.

I'm actually kind of glad you didn't do that. It would have been pretty gory and I think what you have here is quite enough to intrigue people anyway.

Haha - yes, all game movie sets are designed for alien invasions, just in case. "Hey Doc, do you mind turning all the lights down so it looks more moody, you dont want aliens invading and it looking like a real life setting and all that".

I do feel I want to rant about the implausibly low lighting for a medical facility - but that's a brief and genre issue, not an issue with your excellent artwork!

Thanks again! Of course a real medical bay would be well lit, but there was a lack of mood so I went with darker lighting to help the lights pop and focus the eyes. Otherwise you are right!

So it IS YOUR fault! And there I was giving you the benefit of the doubt! LOL!

No, I quite understand; neither film makers nor games developers want anything that detracts from the mood of the piece - and if you do have something, be it a scene or level artwork that doesn't fit with this mood it's very jarring.

This is often highlighted by added scenes in the 'directors cut' films or bonus levels for games - it's very obvious why they weren't included in the initial release.

Yes, I have learned a lot through things like 'extras' and documentaries explaining the limits and rule bending techniques. In both movies and games there always seems to be the right amount of light in the right place, even in caves or underground tombs. Also, darkened areas means less production cost of course.
