This image is not available for use by anyone else.Created entirely in Photoshop, using a Wacom Intuos 4 large tablet. Mostly painted (default photoshop round brush) with a few building textures thrown in (my own photographs, taken in Bristol, UK and then shrunk down and twisted this way and that) plus a sky from one of my own photographs, which has been manipulated loads. Took about 1 month to do, mainly weekday evenings here and there.
Siberia is the name of the organization that controls the city. This was done for a short film. Animation would be added later i.e. vehicles, lights etc.

I'm not 100% sure what the formation in the bottom-left corner is. The texture and lights make me think it's a slum of some kind, but why there would be a slum next to a giant park and plaza in this upscale-looking district... and the way it cuts off the road makes it look like a hill of some kind of shale-like rock.

It wasn't meant to be refined as the shot didn't require it. It was intentionally a slum and plaza but as with many matte paintings only small area's are required in the final shot. I could have properly refined it/made it fit of course for my own satisfaction, which I may well do.

I still think the way it cuts off the buildings makes it look like a hill, but I would guess it's a slum ON a hill. Given the scale, I also think of it as significantly in front of the other buildings, which would explain the differences in lighting that some other people found odd and the proximity of the plaza. It works!
