I had to draw it fast before someone else did ^^

The Machine from 9 and GlaDOS from Portal. Their love will be fatal to all lifeforms.

They have so much in common! They both love to create things, have a fondness for chemical weapons, experiment, and are tacked to the ceiling! GlaDOS totally wears the pants in the relationship and Machine is more than happy to follow her direction and make her little presents to show how much he cares. The butterfly is made of scissors, wire, plastic wrap and a chicken thighbone.

It's genocidally adorable

Wow... those two would work perfectly, too bad that The Machine got corrupterd. I kinda liked that kind of technology. But humanity always find a way to use technology in war. (9 is kinda scary in the end though. XD)

I hope you don't mind me faving it.

Not to mention that:
they were both powered by some form of life (the weird plate that contained life energy for 9 Bot. Caroline's mind for GLaDOS)
They share a hatred for humans
AND want to kill the protagonist for some piece of mind (9 bot to kill the ragdolls so that humans can never return. GLaDOS to kill Chell for making her suffer)
9 Bot and GLaDOS, perfect ship if i do say so myself a match made in Hell.

I can't really say that I like them as a pairing, per se, but I really enjoy seeing the two of them drawn together, given their massive similarites, including designs that are exact opposites on the same spectrum makes a neat contrast.

But I admit, this is damn sweet. :3 GLaDOS, you're lucky to have such a caring, sweet, monstrous device of death in your life.

Anyway, aside from being the most adorable pair of psychotic AI's hell-bent on wreaking havoc ever, this is a seriously cool drawing. As I mentioned above, the fact that these two contrast each other so well makes the idea alone pure eye candy, and this particular style of yours doesn't hurt it either.

So yes, this is indeed genocidally adorable!

Geez, imagine the kids! Flying knife-mouthed turrets screaming out apologies as they gut you

OH WOW, superb idea. XD

I thought of something similar a while back, but you beat me to it. Very nice work indeed.

And I agree when you said that GLaDOS 'wears the pants' in this relationship:

Aperture Science > Fabrication Machine

Yes, Aperture Science is DEFINITELY greater than the fabrication machine. XD

Very nice work indeed.

I've always said that the movie sucked but the fandom is going to be awesome ^^ Because there's a ton of potential there that was so sorely and horribly misused! It breaks my heart because the short film was pure poetry... such a shame.

And the other robot is from Portal, a PC/360 game. I highly suggest picking it up, its one of my top favorite games of all time. It's a puzzle game with hilarious dialog.

I especially love that little heart, and the butterfly.

I haven't seen 9 yet, but so far the reviews I've read are mixed. Most say it's beautifully animated, but they all say that there are FAR to many homages and references to LotR to be taken lightly and that the ending is bunk. ...I still will eventually see it though.

jameson9101322 In reply to Alc-Fluteo [2009-09-14 19:52:50 +0000 UTC]

I say it earns a rental, since it is very pretty to watch, but it had some story flaws that were just too egregious to ignore. What hurts me most is that there was real potential with it - it missed on some very basic and simple opportunities, like someone with a higher power set the plot up and then the movie decided to wander off and do its own thing not understanding the clues provided.

I didn't know they compared it to the Lord of the Rings.. how did they say it was similar to that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Alc-Fluteo In reply to jameson9101322 [2009-09-15 17:55:57 +0000 UTC]

I'd have to look up the review sometime to get you the full list of LotR comparisons, so I'll try to do that tomorrow (as I'm currently writing a paper for my World Philosophies class, ).

Yeah, they based it off of a short film called 9 that was made by a student for his class final apparently. If you look it up on wiki, they talk about the short film and the original creator. It had many tributes and sort of homages to Burton, so he pretty much just took the film and did his own thing in butchering the short script. (I mean, don't get me wrong, almost everything from the short story/film was kept in, but it's just how Burton executed it I think that's gotten it bad reviews.) But yes, the wiki page has a bunch of info. Burton was even nice enough to sign the kid/guy who created it onto the "staff" but I don't think he really gave many contributions to it. I don't even know if he's listed in the credits, I would HOPE he would be.

But yes, I'm looking forward to the film whenever I see it, I have a feeling though that fanboys/girls are going to clamor for a sequel, which since the ending is kinda...lacking...it might be a good idea. That and I'm REALLY REALLY glad that Fred Tatasciore is getting recognition now, since he's about the only regular VA (Voice Actor) in a cast full of movie stars.

(Man...I love the emoticons here on DA. )

Wow, I'd never heard any of that. I have seen the short (I saw it before the movie and loved it, one of the reasons why I was so excited for the movie) I thought Shane Acker wrote and directed both the short and the movie and I was of the impression that Tim Burton really only produced, I didn't realize he'd written it as well. That surprises me since it was the writing that fell so hard and Burton has a pretty good sense of what should go on the screen after directing so many movies. The flaws in 9 were pretty garish, and I'd chalked it up to amateur errors but if Burton was driving then there's no excuse.

Alc-Fluteo In reply to jameson9101322 [2009-09-18 19:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Burton was at the wheel. I'm wondering if maybe it suffered so bad because it was rushed and really didn't have a set audience to distribute to? I mean, it's obviously NOT for kids, but not really for adults either. Heck, one of the little bagmen (hah, they always remind me of Sackman from LittleBigPlanet in pics, lol) gets high/has a druggy trip experience by frying his brain with a magnet.

Hur, wut?

Yeah I know, that scene was weird for sure. I don't really know what it meant.

Well now I'm pissed at Burton, and I was so full of forgiveness before. He, of all people, should know better.

He should know better, but like I said (or maybe I was telling this to someone else...I don't remember, it's a Monday. lol ) I had heard that this movie was really rushed to get out. I still will wait to watch in on DVD or TV or whatever, but I DO want to watch it. I wonder if they'd make a sequel since the ending is very...open? I'd like to see just how the little bagmen are supposed to "repopulate the world" I mean um...I don't think that they can breed or anything. Can they just sew more bag-people?

They wander off to harvest human souls and turn them into bag people.... the next movie should be the machines vs the sackmen with the machines as the heroes.

While this is true, 9 was severely lacking in the awesome department. In the shine, spectacle and general destruction department yes... but it fell short of awesome.
