Description
Finished Mass Effect 3. Beautiful game. Loved every minute up until the last 15, but let's not speak of that now. Instead let's draw more fanart! It's been a long time since I've done one of these Mass Effect denim ads. Jacob got very little love in ME3 and gets little love in general. He's not my best of the pinup series but he's not awful, it's not his fault he's a boring human who's not as interesting to render as cool aliens (which are next on the list)Other Mass Effect pinups:

YAY JACOB!!!!
I actually hated Jacob for most of my MANY playthroughs through ME2, then just decided last run through to actually talk to him... Now he's my teddy bear that I love to hug! :3

See, I thought Jacob was a cool guy in ME2. Boring, but still a cool guy. ME3 was...meh. Of course, few of the ME2 squad members got much attention a that point. Anyway.
Niiice. I do so love your lighting here.

Yeah, Jacob's ok. I still prefer me some Turian tech-sniper!

Considering what happens to anyone who romanced Jacob in Mass Effect 3, I have no doubt the amount of love he gets will decrease dramatically. Not to mention a sharp increase in him dying during the Suicide Mission.

Yeah, he was kinda shafted and by extension so were all of us.
It gives the impression none of the romances in 2 (except Tali and Garrus) were worth anything. That they were all affairs intended to cause tension between you and your true love interest (the one from me1).

It seems more like any romance that isn't with Liara gets shafted, as if Bioware gets the craps if you don't date their creators pet. I mean, they practically force you to think about her as you lie dieing, half the time even if you dated the VS.
Shes the only romance from a previous game you can start dating, and shes the only one that you must be incredibly bloody careful to avoid in both games.
Though I admit that Male shepard's do have the advantage of choice, possibly to make up for FemShepards better dialogue. Especially since we seemed to have 'stolen' one of your relationships even as you guys 'lost' two.

Yeah the romances were strange in 3. I was looking around for someone to shack up with since my shepard was unfettered and the only ones interested were girls... which wasn't what she was looking for.

Could always try and romance Joker. The sheer look/sound of Horror in his voice amused the hell out of me.
Then again, it might be partial revenge for not romancing Garrus in me2. Sigh, too much Liara/Team Dextro love in the series. Would have loved to see more Jack, she was always funny.

Sorry to leech, but!
As I understand it, dudesheps get to continue their romances with Jack and Miranda, though as long distance relationships - you get the paramour achievement for remaining loyal to them, though.
Us Femsheps, however, the only romance you can effectively continue is Garrus', though you can 'continue' with Thane, briefly, in that he has remained loyal to her and she will kiss him. The handling of Jacob's and Thane's is just... terrible, though.
Really looking forward to the rest of these, though!

Woot, Releeching.
Personally, though I never romanced Thane, I don't think there isn't all that much wrong with his. It was flat out stated by him just after you recruited him, that he was going to die. Almost the entire theme of his interactions are him coming to come with what he's done, and doing everything he can to achieve atonement for his previous actions.
He flat out stated several times that his disease was flat out impossible to treat, so either way you were to be losing him soon. The fact that he took on Cerebus's greatest weapon and (should) have died in the defence of the galaxy (avoiding spoilers) was the fulfilment of everything he had joined the Normandy to do.
Though I do admits it sucks you didn't get that achievement. Personally I thought both scenes were touching.

I'm seeing this reaction a lot from people who never romanced him, and most of the time the reason given is because his death was cool and epic and he was going to die anyway, and, yes, that fight scene was great... apart from Shepard's sudden inability to fire a gun.
But. You never romanced him, so... you may not see it, but there is quite a lot wrong with his romance in ME3. His death isn't the problem, though of course for a Thanemancer an option to save him would have been nice (particularly since there were hints in that direction, but that's another story).
We knew he was dying. For a Shepard who did not romance him, his interactions in ME3 make sense.
However, in ME2 to a Shepard that romanced him, he says that he is afraid to die. His relationship with Shepard has changed him and made him want to live. Suddenly accepting it again in ME3 is a step back in character for him.
But that's not the main point. He dies, and that's it. No one on the ship even mentions him, with everyone more concerned with the arrival of Kaidan/Ashley. Oh, not to mention how Kaidan will then immediately hit on Shepard despite her lover just dying. Classy.
The dialogue for a romanced and unromanced Thane is exactly the same, except that a Thanemancing Shepard has the option to kiss him with a pargon interrupt. Other than that, his dialogue never changes - and all Shep can talk to him about is his illness. What about his relationship with Kolyat? What about his and Shepard's relationship? That feels like a step back in character as well, like he's gone into himself again.
Some of the writers have admitted that they dropped the ball on Thane in ME3, and they really did - they have even admitted to forgetting he was a romance option at first (I have no idea how they managed that when the guy was specifally created to be an interesting LI for Femshep).
Jacob's is just flat out terrible writing; Thane's is bad because they more or less forgot he was a romance option and tacked on some bits and pieces last minute to have him and Shep actually acknowledge their relationship.
