OddConrad is fan of my transformers redesigns. It's been a long time since I've redesigned a transformer so this was a fun job.

Shrapnel transforms into a giant stag beetle. Stag beetles are scary looking! I mean they're huge and fat... I never want to actually touch one ever. I tried to make Shrapnel's design look more organic, so it's conceivable he might transform into an actual beetle. I also wanted to keep him looking fairly G1/comicish so I had to put the purple back in... it's on the inside of his underbelly so when he transforms it won't be seen from the outside.

I like hsi legs too... I wanted to go all crazy with the hydraulic cables and stuff. It's totally impractical and would never work in real life, but its cool looking, that's for sure. his arms are a bundle of legs from this beetle form. When he transforms, those yellow dies come undone and the three legs ride rails to their usual locations on an insect body. This is why he only has three fingers, because those are the toes of the legs.
