Hello everyone! Edited with the new AidenHere it is, the cast of my novel: Threadcaster, which I just finished the rough draft of yesterday. A project I started 6 years ago January finally one complete unit with a beginning middle and end.
This does not mean it's finished. I have a ton of revising left to do, and lots of changes to make. Then I'm going to start peer reviewing. I don't mind though, I'm in love with it, I really am. The cast you see above are my hero characters left to right: Ildri, Aiden, Joshua, Cat, Peter, Jared, Zephyr and Lynn
These guys have gone through a lot of changes since their conceptualization back in 2005. Many have changed names and personalities, a couple have changed appearance, some are completely different people than before. I love all of them so dearly... it's a pleasure to know they'll live forever now in whatever form they're in.
This pic also represents the introduction of my brand new tablet! Yay! I just got it in the mail. It's a wireless Intuos4 super shiny and new and so very useful. I love the new programmable buttons and the textured surface. I predict we will have many happy years together.
E: Threadcaster's current wordcount is 115,500. I'm halfway through the second draft, but my goal is to drop it down to 100,000 by the end. So are the four on the right starting with Zephyr the only ones with the curses (I don't remember what you said it really was), or are the three on left going to suffer the same disfiguring fates? I like the style, this picture is really quite good

Pete's cursed too, he looks like Jared only dressed, Cat's our lead character, she's well but she's taking the job of leader on the quest because Curses are encumbered and shunned. Joshua is the mysterious stranger who appears and disappears when they need him the most.

I think you may have said it before, but why does the Air Curse make you look like a bit of living death? So are Joshua and Cat the only non-Curses in the picture? Ah yes, the mysterious guy, every story has to have one of those as a character
Tsk, Lynn should know better than to stand so close to a Fire Curse, Water and Fire do not get along well at all afterall

She really should, he gives her grief for it all the time.
The idea on the Curses is that they're transforming the afflicted from the inside out... so Zephyr's kind of caving in on herself because she's becoming air. Contrarily Pete and Jared are filling with stone so their bodies are bulking up instead.

Yes, they are transforming into the element, it's the price of using magic in my world... and it's indiscriminate. Because people in the world use magic, other people are Cursed.
And as for Waters and Fires.. it depends. If the Fire Curse is already pretty bad off, the handprint of a Water Curse could start a chain reaction and kill them. Aiden here, he'd suffer a horrific burn that probably couldn't completely heal. Eventually it would kill him but through accelerated progression of what he's already got going and general dehydration.
And a general note, Curses can't catch normal illnesses because their immune systems are changing as well as the rest of their bodies. It's because of magic that they live at all.

Ah, gotcha. So it wouldn't necessarily kill them, but it definitely would a horrible idea. I see, well turning into an element kinda sucks, but at least they can get sick
I really hope you can get this published some day, 'cause I *really* want to see this, it sounds like such an interesting story

Nope, pretty much sucks to be Cursed all over. That's one reason why we have to save the world... to stop it all
I'm working hard! It WILL be published somehow someway, even if it's only as a 3 dollar ebook. I don't want it to be made into a movie, I just want it to be read by someone!
