Several variations of MARVEL's character Toad. Clockwise from the top, Ultimate X-Men Toad, X-Men Ronin Master Toad, X-Men:Evolution Toad, X-Men the movie Toad and last, but not leat, my personal favorite, Classic Toad.Classic Toad is my favorite MARVEL character of all time and he dosen't get nearly enough attention, so here he is getting a hug from yours truely.

I love every form of Toad, but I'll admit, I side with you on tthe fact that original is the best, though Ultimate for me comes a close second

Man theres like more diffrent versions of Toad then like any other char [least to me] and I think 198 Toad is diffrent from the others [if personailty wise anyway]

Seriously though, the Toad in the 198 is the original Toad. There was a mini series called "X-Men Forever" where he, Mystique, Ice Man, Jean Grey and Juggernaut had to do a time jaunt to stop a mysterious force from outer space. It's here that we learn that Toad was experimented on as an infant by a group called Dark Womb. They were testing the X-gene in babies and his was screwed up by the experiments. So up until then, he's been living with a broken (not fully developed) X-gene. Later in the story he gets mortally wounded and gets taken to an alien infirmary where they not only heal his wounds, but they fix his X-gene as well, allowing him to develop into the Toad that's running around now.
Great mini, but isn't too well known.

*blinks* So many Toads...in one place...my brothers are here....except for the Evo one, he's my boyfriend...and I also like classic and movie Toad. Don't know who the others are, but they are my amphibian-like brothers nonetheless.

Well, who wouldn't like a buff Scottsman playing our favorite bounding mutant? Movie Toad got some attention back to our dear Mort, but I'm still a big fan, dispite the New X-Men storyline screwing with him.

you should see all of the damn incarnations of *my* X-Men character. (after all, she has to alternate between the different versions of her boyfriend 
oh, you forgot one: Age of Apocalypse Toad! that one was unusual, yet quite gentlemanly... le sigh...
God, I forget who was drawing Toad in the New X-Men book, but he just made him look incredibly weird. Poor Morty looked like Brad Dourif with his eighties white guy 'fro...

I was thnking about putting him in, but I could only find one bad pic of him and when all was said and done, my sis managed to convince me that he was just kind of an alternate of the regular Toad since Age of Apocalypse was a story arch.
Yeah, I'm not liking how they're drawing Toad now. Apparently he can't fit his tounge back into his mouth now. Personally I like the straight hair look on him rather then that dumb white man afro they're drawing him with now.
