Description
I've really wanted to try my hand at making custom action figures for a while now. I decided to start with my OC Redd Rocket. This is the final product (minus her flight pack) made from a She-Hulk that I got at Big Lots for about 7 bucks. For more shots and some in progress check out my blog here [link] [link] [link] [link]
I'll probably do another post when I paint her backpack. I plan to do more customs in the future. I'm really enjoying it as a new hobby.
Edit: See her with her flightpack here [link]

Oh! My bad... I cut it from a random bottle that I found at the 99ยข Store. It was made from a thin flexible plastic (a little more rigid than a soda bottle) and already tinted.

Cool stuff man, good body choice if you dont mind the scale, unless she is tall. But came out really well.

Yeah, it's a little big compared to some figures but she is supposed to be around 6'. I just hate that most female figures are so small and frail.
Thanks

which paints did you use man, cause they came out really nice. I used games workshop paints but couldnt get a nice smooth coat.

Ha! Actually I used M. Graham and Liquitex acrylics. They are regular paint intended for canvas, or paper, or whatever. I recommend Testors (acrylic, not enamel), the ones you use or something else you might find at a hobby shop. Either way, it comes out smoother and won't chip or peel as much if you take your time and build up thin coats as opposed to one thick coat. Sealing the paint after is also a good idea.

cool thanks man. i heard alot about testors but bought the enamel kind and they truly suck. I wasnt sure if the brush type makes a difference too.

I usually use sable unless it's a very nice quality synthetic. With most art supplies you really tend to get what you pay for.

That looks great. A fun hobby. Having done this once or twice myself I know the feeling Seeing the before and after is always cool.

Hey that's nice. You can't even tell it was She-Hulk. You did a great job. Looks like you have been doing it for years.

Thanks a lot. I definitely take that as a compliment. One of my main goals is trying to make it look like it was meant to be the character and not just the original with a different paint job. I just hope my future endeavors are as successful.

Somehow makes her more real doesnt it? I love the one I had made. [link]
How long did it take you?

Yeah it does. Yeah, those are pretty cool I remember seeing them a while back.
I really took my time on her and it's my first one. It was about a week, but I'd say about three or four days actually working and letting things dry. I really layered on thin coats of the red paint for a better paint job, plus I would do a little and stop and come back a day or so later.
