Description
Completed on the 3rd of May, 2010.graphite on cartridge paper
reference: Deep by Tahiry99 [link]
This is another fabric experiment, this time attempting to use a new style of fabric representation to lend a perception of weight to the material. The transparency study was looking at the effect of having a lightly coloured mesh in front of dark hair. My reference actually had a black veil so this was a bit tricky. I am pleased with the overall effect though I'm always keen to receive advice on how to improve.
Also, if you haven't had the chance to experience my blog project, I thoroughly encourage you to click on the [link] and have a look. I'm writing about various world issues and I'm planning on using this image to illustrate my next religious themed post.

You did a really good job with this, you can really get the feel and texture of the mesh with the way you have drawn it. It must have taken quite a while. The eyes are also really beautiful and striking. I also love the sepia tone, very effective

It did take a very long time. It was very tedious work but I am happy with the final effect. Thanks for the comment.

I like the attention that the headscarf brings, and the representation of it. You did a very good job expressing that effect.

I think you did a wonderful job on the transparency!
Also, the eyes are very expressive. It really gives off vibes on the ostracism and 'shame' of being a woman in certain countries...

Thank you. I find it interesting that the eyes are getting so many comments. I didn't really think much about them as I was drawing this.

Beautiful work! The wrap is rendered with so much detail, I feel like I could reach out and feel it's texture.
