Art by Jamez Romaguera
Rendered May 8, 2011
“In this cold street where we last met, I will play songs of melancholy. In this beautiful place where we first met one winter, I shall wait for snow... for winter... for you. I hope you'll be here when autumn ends and the first drop of snow reaches the earth.“
This morning I got awakened by the rain drizzling through the wire screen of my room’s window. The air felt a lot colder than usual, probably the coldest for the past two months. I realized this is the first rain I ever I had to witness this year. Will summer about to end? Perhaps.
I took advantage of the goodness of the weather and went back to sleep. When I woke up, I opened my laptop and hit the net. I opened the usual sites I often visit, Gmail, Facebook of course, and Google. I was browsing through my mailbox when I saw an email advertisement from Deviantart. I realized I haven’t visited this site in months, probably close to a year. I browsed through my DA profile and saw tons of messages – some of these were comments to my previous art works. I realized how busy I am these days that I totally neglected this passion. I haven’t done art in months so I told myself I must make one today!
Of course, I needed an inspiration. With the rain pouring outside, I recalled my ultimate childhood fantasy - to experience snow. When will that time be? I wonder. Maybe this year, why not?
So I decided to make a piece about snow. It must tell a story. Of course, it must! And not to forget, it must be something emotional. So I browsed through a gazillion of stock photos and saw this captivating picture of a woman dressed in a red trench coat. She was playing a violin and she looked like she was so sad. She was in misery. So I worked on that theme and started to develop this piece. The quoted introduction above tells the story. Ask me if you don’t get it! LOL.
I made this for 6 hours, more or less. I hope you like it.
Stock photos used for the model is from ~Kechake-stock - [link] . The background are mixed pictures from sxc.hu. The rest painted and manipulated.
