Description
And the final army of the 40k posters, the Tyranids! Though my first game of 40k was as Space Marines against 'Nids I still love the image of them. Hulking monsters twice the size of a normal man that destroy eveything in their path...Nuff said in previous posters.

hey! shut up! the flood would still be able to mutate fast, just not AS fast as the nids'

No doubt - but the fact remains that despite the Flood's abilities, they are No Match for the Tyranids.
A good comparison would be Maximus the Gladiator versus Kratos from God of War.
Maximus kicks ass as a Gladiator, and in his world he's a total tank. But Kratos is just Better.

There is no debate, not anymore. The Flood can never ever ever ever ever ever be convincingly argued to be better than the Tyranids - especially now that they're all dead.

bobdd0 In reply to Rythmear [2010-05-22 04:54:26 +0000 UTC]
they are not "all dead". the other halos have some in status, and the flood is extra galactic. so it's almost impossible to say they are all dead. Anyways, the halo's don't seem to kill the flood only their hosts...
any ways: the flood would curb stomp the nid's

Go away.
I'm not arguing with you anymore man - less than a dozen rings with isolated pockets of a doomed alien race can't compare to over an entire galaxy's worth of hyperevolutionary creatures.
Just... find someone else to argue with - I don't re-open old arguements that I've long since won and put to bed.

to be honest the tyranids are a genetic enhanced race and the flood only infect since the tyranids collect genetic data from defeated enemy's souch as the flood infected boides of their own well they would develop a genetic resistance to flood infection and basically destroy the flood in a span of given time

only? you my friend are sorrily under informed.
the flood are a extragalactic parasitic set of life forms that can assimilate any carbon based life form. and as long as the nids' have a brain/nervous system they will be susceptible to the flood. a flood super cell(fsc)[the infecting stuff] taps in to a hosts' DNA/RNA/whatever and splices it with its own genes. like cancer only a hell of a lot worse.
oh and the flood would begin creating bio-wepons once enough nids were assimilated. so in effect the nids fighting the flood would only make the flood stronger by giving it hosts and accidentally spreading the FSC by way of digestion pool.

well i do have to agree with you plauseable argument i ment by way of "resistance" i ment of development oh a biological fail safe as in self destruction of the nervous system since they run of a simmilar function of "Hive" mentality and yes i do understand some of the detail of the flood but not all and i am not doubting the floods ability at all just mearly stating when the tyranid consume the body of the "infected" corpses they may find a way to develop a small resistance and a possible "counter" to the flood due to the tremendous amount of gene splicing

ah that may be true but considering the fact then when a flood organism is in such incapacited "i.e infected life form rendered useless" the acids insides the very bowls of the tyranid organism are very digestive and in the contains the gene spliced matter for which they take back to the leader of the hiver felat rendering the nasty infectious element of the flood rendering the chance of infection and not only that the tyranids would try to find a way to make the flood into a symbiotic parasite enate with their own bodys making the some what impervious to the infection via chemical composition to limit the floods growth and inabling the flood to take over any individual organism point blank...point being that the tyranids would fight with biological/chemcial componds to limit or possibly starv the flood after a time of sustaining heavy casualties

bobdd0 In reply to UltramarineMatt [2009-08-15 03:13:37 +0000 UTC]
good point but just one flood cell could, in effect, infect other cells in side the nids body, slowly turning it floody. and; after it infects the lungs/what ever it would turn the slowly dyeing nid in to a kind ofspray can for the flood spores.

if the tyranids used scorcthed eath tactics..meaning the leave nothing for the flood to well infect the flood would die out but if they don't the flood would just over power the nids

but his would only work on a very small scale. say: one star system. knowing WH40K this conflict would be galaxy spanning. the flood would find a new source, build up, and just start the fight again.

Be that as it may, I just don't see the flood comparing to the tyranids. A hive fleet can make a world a lost cause in a day, and take on entire systems, raging through the galaxy... The flood can't even take a genetically modified human.
