Description Drawn in 2011

It's inspired by the Disney movie Tangled. I watched it and thought I haven't drawn anyone with REALLY long hair in a very long time.
So with long hair as the only criteria I did the usual and made it up as I went along.

I ended up with a woman in a some what elegant dress swinging a ridiculously over sized chain mace, oh and bare foot.
After spending 5 days detailing the hair I was convinced by a 5 year-old girl that was in my office to color the dress instead. Of course she picked the colors, it was going to be all pink until her mother joined in. I spent 3 days detailing the outfit to a point I felt it was done, and cringing at the thought of going back to the hair I started working on the chain mace spent 4 days on that. Despite the fact that it is turning out very will, if I do say so myself, I don't really care to finish it (adding a background). There are several things wrong with the pic that I still need to learn or have learned and still need to remember. But mainly I need to get better at capturing an action pose without it ending up looking like it's not in motion... I've added a few motion blurs to help pull it off but not sure if it's working. meh.

Did you draw this stuff on your own? Because it looks so real, High definition.

I'm not sure what you mean? I don't usually have anyone have anyone help me draw/color. I have taken feedback and coloring tips but I've very rarely done a collaboration.
Anyway I'm glad you like it and hopefully you'll like some of my other stuff.

What I meant is that it looks like a real picture from a game. You know High definition means simply that it's going to make something look real. Was it a drawing or did you use a image from a internet page and did some Graphic arts type of work with your art? In Graphic arts you learn to take images from internet websites and post them on a screen with a character from anything and post it with your own background. If you still don't know what I mean then, I understand, some people don't understand what I'm saying sometimes.

Ah, I understand.

No I didn't photo manipulate the character or use photos to create the color pallet. And no I didn't take this pose from a photo or video game, although if I had she may not have had that somewhat awkward pose.
That is not to say that I have not used photos to build a color pallet or used them for pose and prop reference materials, I just didn't use any for this picture.

Thanks,

I had planned to do much more with this picture but never got around to it. I wanted the mace to look over elaborate and very menacing I didn't do even half of the detail work that I wanted on it. The designs on the skirt were meant to look like an oriental reed pattern and I think it came out nicely. The hair I wanted to look more intricate than the standard 3 strand braid so I learned how to make a 5 stranded braid out of wire I had around and use that as a reference for her hair.

Anyway I'm glad you like it.

You're welcome!

OMG, I know what you mean; I always plan more than I ever achieve, it feels like... Oh, wow, that's so cool about the braid! I've always liked braids and tried to do my own version of one that's sort of two interlocking braids (hard to explain). I drew it, but I'm so not sure if it's actually feasible in real life. XD

Sounds like your taking two 3 stranded braids on either side of the head and then mixing them in a rope braid. That sounds like it would look interesting. Fun fact, I didn't know what a rope braid was until I started researching braiding for this picture.
