Description
*UPDATE*: The image has been updated to one modified by *lorrainemd which helps depict the emotion much better. I can not thank her enough for the wonderful help she has provided me in allowing the statement to have that much more clarity.why have you been hurt by the guy from Los Angeles , who taught me a few Greek words while he was welcomed in our home in Japan, and stayed here for a week which ended up with him befriending me, only to stab you in the back?
... was it business?
... was it personal?
... was it for money?
... was if for power?
... was it greed?
... was there an honest reason?
... why have you been hurt?
... all i want to know is why, daddy?
your pain is too much for me to handle and i can not keep it inside any longer ...
*DISCLAIMER*: this deviation is in no way to be considered a personal attack on any of the parties involved in "this situation." it is merely here to depict the unintended consequences of ones actions; those that are never considered when decisions are made and implemented. this image is not staged and is not intended to be used as some way to rally the masses; art is emotion and this is nothing but pure, raw, emotions pouring out of someone affected by this severity of the situation.

before anyone jumps down my throat, i agree, jark shouldn't have been fired.
but this picture has been bothering me for sometime.
who's the boy? your son? and if so, is he crying because you were fired from dA? it's very likely he was, and it's understandable that that is the case. but if he isn't, i must say this picture is a gross misuse of someone else's emotions for a cause.
sorry if i'm completely off my mark, and take care,
sebastian

At first sight, my Emo-Meter went off (yes, an Emo-Meter. Available at Radio Shack for $79.99.) Now I'm thinking, "Well, with droves of supporters throwing fanart, anti-Spyed propaganda, and even money at his pops, what's he got to cry about again?"
And no, this isn't pro- or anti-Jark. I just enjoy offering alternative viewpoints.

I keep seeing Topher Grace in this picture. Forgive me, it is a moving piece, but the hair, the skin color, the clothing... very "Eric Foreman" from That 70's Show. I still do love the piece, and the story behind it. I see no slandering whatsoever.

Hmm... Interesting... very interesting. It has emotional power, yet shows a strong message without being too forward. I say out of ten I'd give it a seven.

I'm carefully staying out of this wankfest, but it seems to me that this is a bit low, even in a game of underhanded moves. Pity party, anyone? Personally, I think you might get a little more sympathy by being the better/more mature man. Or at least, you would from me.
*waits to be murdered in as many ways gory ways as possible by screaming defenders of the Downtrodden*
But that's only the critiquing of the spin you put on it. The image itself is quite nice. Composition is a bit centered (it might help a little if you use the backwards L-shape of his body as echoing the lower right corner of the photo (if that made any sense at all)? Just a random thought). I like the mirror (? I assume it's a mirror) in the background.

I agree with Subtlerevolutionist, RaineDaze, and PinkFairyLotus. I'm sure your son loves you, what with you taking pictures of him as he cries instead of, oh, I don't know...COMFORTING HIM.
If this was a staged photo, then it would be great. It would be sad, and sweet, and touching. But grabbing your camera when your kid(who you obviously hate, as seen from that father's day entry quote) is crying to snap a shot? That's just sick.
I felt bad about what was happening before. I was starting tot hink of supporting you, of getting into all this. But now, all I can say is this: GET HELP! You need it. Oh, and put your kid up for adoption, he deserves a better father.

uh, what on gods green earth makes you think that i hate my son?
furthermore, what ignorance leads you to believe that he was not comforted?
i shall assume from your response that you have no child therefore you are not qualified to offer a response like that. speak about the art for christs sake or is that too much to ask?

Alright, IE went a bit crazy, so I'm sending this again...sorry if it gets sent twice.
Well, you know, running off to get a camera and taking a picture of him when he most likely wanted some help first says that. If I were you, I would've comforted him before taking the picture, and later when he was all better asked him to make it look like he was crying so you could get your oh-so-precious moment on the net. That would've made me as well as those who left similar comments think much better of you.
And on a side note, I may not have children, but that doesn't mean I don't know how to treat them, especially with the fact that most of the time, I'm left caring for two to seven kids every time family comes over(every few days). If my parents did that, even if they did comfort me as well like you say you did, I wouldn't think too highly of them afterwards.
If you did comfort him as well, then, that's better. Sorry I made that assumption, but you never claimed otherwise before now, even with the comments like this one.

jark In reply to FearMyLackOfSanity [2005-08-29 21:41:34 +0000 UTC]
i never claimed otherwise, and never will, because that is not the point of the art. it is to depict emotion.
again, you assume i had to run off to get a camera too. what makes you think that the camera was so far away that i actually had to leave to get to it? what makes you think you know anything about the situation that led to this image?
see...nothing is as black and white as you are assuming.
it would have been nice for you to comment on the art rather than what you assume happened behind the scenes.

in the words of
'When you've got a camera, and there's a scene of hurt, do yourself a credit and be a human before an artist'
But in that wee argument there...fair play, you both went off the handle a bit there, both hit sensitive topics for each other...(ok, saying that you hated your son was a bit harsh, as was you saying that as she was not a parent, does not mean she is not qualified to offer an opinion)
so just chill out a wee bit dude
oh, and jark, on the rare chance that you'll read this message, why havent you joined the thousands of other artists on this site who have removed their galleries and left in protest?
