My first screenshot ever of my recent addition to the computing family here at home; the Apple PowerBook 17" that I purchased second-hand from a co-worker of mine.I am still entirely new to this whole OS X thing and feel like a complete n00b although it does seem that the barrier to understanding the OS is far easier than Windows. Do not know if that is a psychological thing or not.
Anyhow, the IM app is Adium and I used CandyBar to modify the icons. Any tips that anyone has would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using windows but since my father bought an iBook I want to change to apple, as well. In my opinion it's much better than windows (many reasons why I say it). Hopefully I'll be able to buy a powerbook this summer. It will be a good thing since I'm going to study at university and there I'll need a laptop anyways.

ultra smooooth - I am jealous, because I gave me a beautiful PowerMac G5 at work and it's got permission restrictions all over the place, and I can't even change the bloody ugly-pixilated-stretched company wallpaper.

i like the dock on that. the inmitation PC ones are cool, but they just don't compare to the mac ones.

you know the tool bar doesn't have to be across the bottom you can move it to the opposite side from the screen icons and then not stretch the background...

Some pretty swanky stuff there. I'm used to OS 9.2, so I can see it'll take some getting used to OSX. I prefer Windows, but only slightly...OSX and that powerbook of yours look pretty nice.

indeed, they are GANT icons. grabbed them from ~mattahan as part of his GACK set (GANT for Mac).
Adium does rock. it is better than iChat, MSN, Yahoo or any of the other IM apps that I have tried.

Get trillian!!! I have no link but search it on google. You can use Trillian to talk to people on aim, yahoo, msn, and even irc.

Definitely. Yahoo it's one of the worst IM apps for mac ever. When I tried it a couple years ago, it was incredibly laggy and unstable. Never used it again. And MSN doesn't have any of the coolest features its Windows counterpart has.
Besides, no one can beat the sexyness of Adium's tabbed chats.

Could you not take it into PhotoShop and deform it by stretching it vertically?

how big is your screen size? you can adjust the size in system preferences and that could help to make pictures look better on your desktop.
