Description
I got myself once a NERF Vulcan about two years ago.... and I soooo wanted to do something cool with that. -> But also something reliable for LARPing.
So the Idea of the M60 was born.
I first had the idea of using a Softair and replace the parts... Buit the Softairversion was too expensive. - so i made the pieces out of Wood and Metal - also i liked the Retro Version from a Fallout New Vegas Mod with Wood Parts which gave me the most inspiration.

the classic Vulcan Box just spraypainted Olive. But i later updated the Boy and built an Adapter plate to tug in the 7,62x51 Steel-Ammocases on the side. -> which makes the Nerf kinda heavy on the left side. ^^

i upgraded it and built in some 3rd Party flywheels between barrel and Revolver and added a second Power source in the Buttstock to bring her back on 69 feet per second. - The long Barrel gives the dart way too much friction that throttles them down - so i had to compensate by using faster motors with high-voltage.

Sweet. You should consider making an MG-42

Was my first thought approach but the MG42 shape is too sleek and slender. Would not be possible to strip the Vulcan down that much and keep it sleek. - The buttstock on the MG42 would have given the battery-pack not much space, also the Barrel would not have alligned well with the chunky revolver-mechanism housing.
I was inspired by a new vegas mod that used the "lighte machine gun" as base and made it more M60-ish -> and i think the wooden furniture really sold it to me. XD

Out of curiosity, is this thing still functional?

It is intended to used on a LARP
So keeping the functuanality was the whole Point.
Actually it works better than before. Fitted in a stronger Spring for higher Range and a compact and stronger Battery in the Stock for a faster firerate. ^^

I'm actually impressed that you managed to make a prop like this out of a Nerf gun, while still having a functioning blaster in the end. Kudos too you.

That's the most un-Vulcan looking Vulcan I've ever seen! That's not a criticism by the way...
Is it still functional?

Partly. ^^
The Buttstock is smaller and contains the endpart of the Gearbox. The Manual handle cant be pulled back anymore, and the manuall Trigger release is not existing.
The Switch for the Automatic-mode has been rewired to the Grip of the Stryfe. - the Batteries are holded in the Buttstock. - Actually i just switched the places ^^
I also changed the spring of the Plunger with a stronger one.
So jeah, it is still functional.

Awesome work! That's the sort of modding I'd like to aspire to in the future. Getting there slowly

if you get how the mechanics work you have lesser limitations with the case
