The Mask of Batman (2023) Genre: Action, Crime, Horror. Total Runtime 3h 18min (Rated R for strong violence and gore, strong language, body horror)

PREMISE: It is the time of Christmas. GOTHAM CITY still suffers from the fall of the seawall caused by The Riddler, many people left homeless by the disaster, many lost their loved ones. City is divided and under Martial Law, but that doesn't stop the criminal element from filling the power vacuum left behind by Carmine Falcone, turning rest of Gotham into a WARZONE. And when the city wasn't suffering enough, from the darkness emerge KILLER CROC and CLAYFACE, terrifying villains unlike anything BATMAN has ever faced before. Batman soon realizes that it isn't just the city that is under attack, but also the reclusive BRUCE WAYNE himself.

MAKING OF: I was two minds about doing this, but the ideas grew too great to be ignored, I was compelled to write this down. Think of this as my pitch for The Batman Part 2, everything that needs to happen in the sequel, most gathered from theories and rumours. Let's start the villain, who will be the villain? I DON'T want it to be the Joker, okay, we had 3 to 4 Jokers since the Dark Knight and the bar is pretty high, we've seen that, done that, let's not oversaturize the cultural landscape with even more Jokers. I would like him to be more like this Thanos like character, always looming in the background, building up and planning for his eventual uprising. Mr. Freeze would be nice, he needs a proper introduction without ice puns xD, but I've already done him. What I would really want to see is Killer Croc and Clayface, because they are the two sides of the same coin, Croc is monster from the outside while Clayface is monster from the inside, two sides of the same coin.

And talking about coins, we need to set up Harvey Dent and Two-Face, black Harvey Dent, finally fulfill that when Billy Dee Williams' Two-Face failed to materialize. We still haven't got comic accurate Two-Face on the big screen, they fail to realize that Harvey suffers from schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder, we haven't seen inside the mind of Harvey Dent, we haven't seen Big Bad Harv, so there's still plenty to explore there. And adds to the theme of IDENTITY. Some may think that Clayface is too fantastical to put on screen, yeah, the shapeshifting mud monster would be too out there, but there is MANY different versions of the Clayface, the best hyperrealistic version would be Renuyu powered Basil Karlo, he can shape his face, use costumes and wigs.

And what's great about Clayface is that how every villain represent a different challenge for Batman to overcome, The Riddler challenges Batman's intelligence, Joker challenges his morality, Scarecrow challenges his courage, you get the point. Clayface challenges Batman's IDENTITY, Batman actively has to keep Bruce and Bats separate, while Clayface's new identity are one in the same. And there is also the THEATRICAL aspect. "Well, well, you took my advice about theatricality a bit literally" Ra's al GhuI. I think Matt Reeves' uses these villains to challenge different aspects of Batman, pointing out his weaknesses so he'll become stronger and the Batman we know. I think the next logical step is to force Bruce Wayne out of the shell of Batman, we'll have more Bruce Wayne than Batman, Clayface would be the perfect villain for THAT.
