This variant is named after the military tactic of “thunder run” used during the wars in the middle east, a more modern version of blitzkrieg. Now with the use of scout tactical mechs, making great pushes into enemy territory is possible when a mech can traverse natural barriers that often stop other combat vehicles, such as mountains. When in the right position, a formation of “thunder Run”s can push deep into enemy lines, carrying weapons best suited for decimating infantry and logistics. With the risk of overextending, these mechs carry more supplies and ammunition just in case their own logistics can't catch up. If they have to take cities their new turret head and the turret LMGs are good for providing accurate lethal response combined with improved situational awareness. Their “jump legs” help improve their speed by turning a sprint into leaps, and can help the mech dodge enemy RPG fire.

Lore:
Whenever Jackalope squads encounter enemy main tactical mechs (MTM), they either rely on the support of their own main tactical mechs, or use up anti tank missiles they might have, but when friendly MTMs aren't available, and they would rather waste anti tank munitions on tanks, then the sniper is a reliable variant of the jackalope. The Army mech rangers pride themselves on their mechanized sniper programs, and built this variant for their graduates. The rifle of the the Sniper uses the latest depleted uranium sabot, and can reliably penetrate all known MTMs, and some of the most skilled pilots pride themselves in being able to even find the chinks in a tanks armor. The optics of the sniper are some of the best available for mechs, and its powerful scope has the latest thermals, night vision and detection equipment.
