So, CoffeeAddictedDragon is hosting a contest in celebration of the first anniversary of her mer-based YGO fic, Encounter , here on DeviantArt. The submission deadline is tomorrow and I was fortunate enough to finish my three pieces in time. The main rule was that we had to draw three scenes from three of our favorite chapters already written for Encounter. I decided to join because it forced me to practice drawing different characters and digital coloring, and with a deadline to boot. This was the third of three pictures drawn and the second of three colored. For this scene, I chose the moment in chapter 15 when Mana was trying to pull Yami off the rock he'd been sunbathing on previously in order to say 'hi' to the human children that had come to visit the aquarium that day.

I sketched it out on paper and then colored it with GIMP. Only attempted to draw Mana once a long time ago, but this is my first time since I found my own style. Dear lord, why did nobody tell me that Gold Midian tails were so easy to draw. Seriously, her tail is gorgeous and I'm in love with it. Not real happy with Yami's expression or his tail though. That rock was also a pain. Seriously, the kelp was easier to color than that thing.
