Sweet. The entire picture comes together well I believe, the colossus forming seemingly out of the ground (feet seem to be merged with the floor?) the devastation and darkness behind him.
THe creature just seems, while lithe, rather ponderous in a way, each step bringing you closer to the inevitable, along with the few people at the base that seems to me to be how insignifant life is in it's way.

Thanks! But I don't see this as a loss at all. I didn't expect to even get noticed, let alone make it to the semi-finals. And the guys who won completely deserve it. I got an awesome portfolio piece, and a bunch of new fans and followers who enjoy my work. That's a win in my book

I love the feel of it, such a feeble corpse-like pose, but intense faces. The surrounding looks like absolute desolation and adds to the character. I think less really was more on this one.

Ew... in a good way. xD It reminds me of a heart. A fleshy, blood monster. I think it's an excellent design and I love the picture itself. Are those vein-like tentacles? Very interesting.

Haha thanks! Yep, they're veiny tendrils infecting everything and sucking the life out of the environment haha. Sounds ridiculous when I put it into words.

Maybe a little, but in practice it works very well I think. Makes it seem vampiric, like it sucks blood or life straight through its veins, and because they're like veins, it's like the whole creature is based off a human heart. Very freaky. xP

i like so much your colossus i t would have been interesting to know what are its powers. y un didnt add detail to its legs? i think u need some light source in the sky. Great artwork!! good luck!!

Thank you! I was trying to force the eye towards the torso/head region, so I left the legs a bit less detailed.

Hey thanks! I work both ways. This image in particular was started directly in color. A lot of my paintings lately have started that way. I feel like colors always turn out a little bit better like that. I'll stop by your gallery!
