Those words echoed in Metalica's head as she stared into the mirror. She hated this.
Her mother wouldn't be home for three more weeks...her father at least two...
She couldn't do it...

The door slammed open and Rider stormed in, her hair was still decoratively braided and tucked into the neck of her plate armor, in such a rush to get here she hadn't bothered to take it off or clean herself up.
Rider's upper lip curled into the snarl, for the first time in a long time she felt pure unending rage.

"EVENING GLOW!" Rider roared out her voice shaking the house. "SHADOW STRIKE!"

Metalica's head whipped up and she scrambled down the stairs her heart pounding, "MOM! MOOOM!"
She saw her and Rider's eyes widened and softened as she saw her, Rider opened her arms for Metalica, Metalica ran to her.

Something caught Metalica by the neck.

"Starlight, it's so nice to see you again." Evening Glow said calmly. She looked a lot like Metalica's Dad, pale grey coat and long choppy hair streaked with cool colors.

Rider's frown returned, "I've come to pick up my daughter early."

"Dear Starlight, I think you mean your son." Something about how she said it just seemed offensive on more than the obvious level.

"No I mean daughter, Metalica is my daughter." Rider's voice had bite to it that made her words sound final.

However it appeared Evening Glow didn't think so. "Starlight dear, I know you lost your first daughter and want to replace her, but you cannot force your young son to dress in drag."

Time seemed to flow in slow motion as Rider's armored hoof slammed clean into Evening Glow's jaw with a loud crack and knocking the older woman clean to the ground.
Rider snarled her sharp teeth exaggerating her anger and fierce appearance.

Straightening she walked calmly to her daughter and leaned down to look Metalica in the eyes "Don't punch people in the face, it's not polite."

Metalica teared up and threw her arms around Rider's neck, "How did you know?"

Rider pulled back, "Onyx got a letter through to me, I asked for immediate leave on the basis of family emergency. I'm taking you home."

"Actually, can we visit the hospital first?"

Rider's eyes widened, "Is it important?"

Metalica nodded "Real important."

"Alright then, alright..."

The nurse leaned over the counter and waved to the familiar faces, but frowned after a moment.

"Metalica?" she asked calmly.

Metalica nodded and smiled sweetly as she got to the counter.

"Not that I'm upset to see you, but why are you here? You normally visit on Fridays, and....Onyx isn't in the ER again is he?"

She shook her head.

"Than what do you need hun'?"

"I need a doctor..." without warning she collapsed.

Rider ran over and caught her before Metalica's head could strike the ground.
The nurse seemed to be in shock as she rushed out from behind the desk, "What's wrong?!"

Rider shook her head unable to speak as she looked over her child for injury.
"Her wrists..."

"What?"

"Her wrists..." Rider pulled up the dull black fabric to reveal her worst nightmare, there were rough and deep slashes and the pristine white fur was stained a deep red.

"We need a doctor..." The nurse got up and hurried off.

Rider stared blankly, how could she let this happen?
