Prince Solanar is on the left. He is the son of Discord and Celestia.

Princess Nexus is on the right. She is the daughter of Flash Sentry and Twilight.

Note: The story is on HOW THEY MET not what's going on in the picture RIGHT NOW. This happens about a month after they meet.

STORY TIME!

Nexus -or Princess Nexus- the daughter of Princess Twilight and Flash Sentry. She is currently training in the guard and breezed through lessons like they were nothing. She received her final test in the form of a letter from Princess Celestia. It only said "Your task is to guard a very important figure in the canterlot community. Their identity will be hidden until you pick them up at the train station. They have not left the castle very much and have requested a tour of your home town along with the local outlying surroundings. I assume this task will be simple enough..."

She of course accepted this task and went to go wait.

And wait...

And wait...

She was almost left in anger at the extended wait time until finally the train from canterlot arrived. She knew it was theirs because of how heavily guarded. Her own father was there to protect this figure. He / She must be very important.

A very strange white stallion with hair combed up in what seemed to be a mohawk but also flowing down to his shoulders stepped off. She didn't think much of him..but then again she couldn't see much of him. He seemed just like some punk unicorn. No big deal.

She began to approach him in a mostly formal manner to show respect but felt a smirk on her face. The princess wanted her to protect some hot head unicorn?

But she bit her lower lip when she saw his wings. An Alicorn! This must mean hes important! She could make a huge impression on others if she was being trusted with the life of an alicorn! She began to trot faster at this point almost giddy. Who cared if he looked like a punk? He HAD to be royalty! This was the bes---

She stopped dead when she found herself staring at what looked like his...chest? He sure was....tall? Almost afraid she looked up..

She bit back the scream droning in her head. The stallion was INDEED that big...but that wasn't it. He grinned almost feraly revealing long fangs that could easily tear her apart. One of his forelegs was a gnarled green claw. She knew she was shaking now. This wasn't an alicorn...it wasn't even a pony....

"Dr-drac...DRACONOQUEES!" She screamed and stumbled back.

A draconoquees! A rare creature of legend! A monster of chaos that preyed on those who felt in it's grasp! The thing feared by all! The creatures that---

He frowned almost sullenly. His red eyes looking saddened. "I hope I didn't scare you."

Nexus paused. His voice was melodious and calm with a deep resonant undertone. "I...I...you..." she gulped "Your a...a..."

"Draconoquees?" He finished. He tilted his head almost disappointed "Well only half of one."

"I...I'm sorry I just..I didn't..." Nexus simply covered her mouth and looked away. "I've never seen...nevermind... I am Princess Nexus. I am to be your...guard?"

He nods and looks around. By now others started to shy away as well. "Morning miss Nexus...sorry I was late the train was delayed." He looked back at her "My name is Prince Solanar."

Nexus's eyes went wide "Prince...Solanar? THE Prince Solanar? Heir to the Solar Empire and---"

"--son of Celestia." Solanar looked almost bored. "Yes that's me."

"Your...NOT what I expected.." she said mostly to herself.

"And YOUR not what I expected." it sounded as if it was an insult but Solanar's face said otherwise "Now...Anything ELSE you don't know about me?"

Nexus looked shocked and stood there gaping before shaking herself out "I-well it's common knowledge Celestia had a son...but no one has EVER seen you or even knows who your father is...can I...ask?"

Solanar scoffed and walked a few paces past her. He continued to look around curious "I never left the castle. It was...dangerous I was told. She wanted me to go but others protested." He looked up at the sky squinting "She said making some friends would be good for me... Thus I start here." he started walking toward the town.

Shaking herself out Nexus ran after him "So...you've never left Canterlot?"

"I've never left Canterlot Palace...I actually didn't know what the sun looked like until today"

Nexus felt almost guilty. She always abused her ability to leave whenever she wanted. Frankly she never went outside in the first place. "I'm sorry..."

He shrugged and his voice seemed almost happy "Don't be! I mean I'm certainly not!"

They walked in silence for a few minutes. Solanar would occasionally ask a question about what things were. Or why did things look like they did. Or why did "ponies" look so different than him? Why were they so brightly colored? Are cutie marks unique or can multiple ponies have them? Does the sun always shine so bright? What are those puffy things in the sky? How come trees are so big? Are those trees at all? What's an apple? What do you mean having two horns isnt normal?

Talking to him was almost like talking to a two year old. He didn't seem to know anything about the kingdom he was meant to rule. But something tugged at her especially when he asked "What are those things you ponies have on your feet? They aren't claws..." it seemed almost two daft! He had 3 hooves of his own!!

Time passed and the sun started to set and Nexus had to rush Solanar back to her mother's castle so he could finally rest and she could finally try and figure him out.

They were greeted instantly and one of the palace servants began to usher Solanar to his room but Nexus shouted out "WAIT!"

He looked at her seeming confused.

"After all your questions it's only fair you answer mine. You never told me who your father was..."

Melting like ice on hot stone his face went from confused to breaking into a large almost cocky grin. "Oh I thought I told you...oh well...." he turned around and began to walk away with the servant and shouted back "It's Discord dear Nexus."

She stared back at him...the answer was so obvious why hadn't she known---

Just before he was ushered in the room he shouted back "Oh! And I DO know what hooves are! What did you think? I was daft?"

Nexus slumped to the ground dazed.

Hours past before her brother Nebula walked over and poked her "You alright Nex?"

She shook her head "I think I'm in love with him...and hate him for it..."

Nebula shook his head and left her alone.
