I don't really do much.
All I do is basically put a pen to paper and hope for the best.

In that case.. I do that everyday! Still ends in disaster... outside of math.

Well I dont know if it works for everything.
But that's how i learned to draw.

And what I recommend if you cant draw in general is to pull up a screenshot of the show or a base and try to copy is on paper.

Honestly am joking a bit and complimenting you. I am still learning and while others may have trouble with somepony like Blitzen or Burry Do . I can draw him no issue (practice I suppose). I guess I am weird that I draw the characters I like better.. or something.

With new drawings (such as dragons and things) I take screenshots and get an idea of what angle I want my drawing on, and try to match the overall features, but slightly "soften" them a bit.

This is because, well, WAY BACK WHEN, I HATED drawing technical things, and always wanted my spin on things. I liked the cartoony version, rather than an accurate model, but still make sure it is identifiable. Oh goodness.. If only I had some of those drawings... lol!
