"Hey daddy?" Fang turned to see his young daughter poking her head through the doorway. "Do you know where mom is?"
Fang sat up in the bed yawning sleepily to reveal rows of sharp curved teeth and pondered the question for a moment. "Good question, but shouldn't you be in bed?"
Firecracker pouted and made a small noise, "Yes but...Mom never came to tuck me in...she never does that."
"She's been in her room all day talking with...auntie Dusty.." Fang looked away briefly feeling a wave of guilt, but it passed quick enough. It was for her own good after all.
The filly looked upset, "But...she always tucks me in.." absently kicked her hoof she looked up into the kirin's gold eyes and made that face...the face all children seem to possess that just makes your heart melt.
Sighing Fang pushed himself off the bed and walked over to Firecracker. "I know...look you run back to you're room. I'll go talk to her okay? If she's asleep though I'll come tuck you in."
She brightened and hugged his leg tightly, "Thanks daddy." with that she scurried off to her room.
Fang shook his head and quickly looked at himself in a mirror, no this wouldn't do. He couldn't look like this infront of her...
With practiced ease he applied thick mascara to his eyes and brushed his mane back so that it curled at the edges rather than it's normal ragged mess. Quicker than you could say "Princess Celestia's sun" he became her.
Quickly dashing her hair around her horns she marveled for perhaps the millionth time how different she could look.
One last glace she began to walk toward Enchantress' "room" pondering to herself the strange life she lived now a days. Personally she never truly was comfortable with the feminine aspect of her body but it always put Enchantress at ease, she wasn't the biggest fan of stallions, Fang never questioned it but it did confused her every day, Enchantress couldn't even talk to Onyx without fear, and he couldn't stand up to even a butterfly!
Shaking her head she put the thought aside as she stood infront of the door.
It always put her off. A large door that was made of solid steel for reasons only Fang and Enchantress knew. It had a large key lock and could only be opened from the outside.
She had insisted it be that way...for Firecracker's safety.
Fang couldn't help but cringe everytime Enchantress gave her the key...
Taking a deep breath she knocked on the door three times, "Enchantress? Firecracker is looking for you. Are you okay?"
She pressed an ear against the door and waited a moment. Having hearing better than any pony she could easily hear noise on the other side, and it was...confusing.
A slow persistent groan, whether of a person or the house itself she wasn't sure.
"Enchantress?" No response again, "I'm coming in.."
Sliding the key into the lock she unlocked the door and opened it.
And screamed.
It seemed to happen in slow motion.
Enchantress had a thick rope around her neck that was tied to the chandelier, the moment Fang had stepped into the room Enchantress had stepped off the chair she was standing on.
The snap broke Fang's heart as she raced toward the unicorn, dangling like a puppet from the ceiling.
Not thinking of the danger and knowing her claws werent sharp enough to make a cut in time she breathed a stream of fire onto the rope incinerating a large portion and allowing Enchantress to fall free.
Skidding across the ground she caught Enchantress before she hit the floor.
Working quickly she loosened the knot around her throat and put an ear to her chest.
She was alive..
Fang fell back with a sign of relief holding Enchantress to her chest, on the verge of tears.
It took a moment before Enchantress stirred against her and...
Began to scream and hit the kirin, doing little to actually hurt her but enough to make her anger known.
"No! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! Why did you do this?! I wanted that! I HATE YOU!!" tears flowed down her face and she curled into Fang's chest barely able to breathe.
Fang simply put her arms around the broken unicorn, "Shh...it's okay...I'm here Chanty...I'm here...shhhh..." she comfortingly rang her claws through Enchantress' hair in a calming manor.
A long time passed before Enchantress spoke "I really meant it this time..." She looked up with blood shot eyes "I...I want to...I can't..." she grabbed fistfuls of her hair "They're so angry..."
Fang simply sat there holding her eyes closed, "I will protect you.."
Enchantress clung to Fang and became silent.
"Dad?" Firecracker poked her head into the room again.
Fang looked up from tucking Enchantress into bed, "Yeah hun?"
"I...oh..." she backed up, "Sorry I didn't."
Fang smiled slightly and sat on the bed, "No it's okay, you can sleep with her tonight if you want...you're mom could use the company."
Firecracker smiled and walked toward Fang almost nervous.
He tilted his head "What's wrong?"
Firecracker sat on the bed and frowned "I had a nightmare...that you hurt mom..."
Fang put an arm around Firecracker, "That would never happen."
She didn't look at him, "But everyone thinks you're a monster Dad..."
He paused.
"I might be a monster...that much is true, but you're mother...is my entire world..as are you. Never forget that."
She got under the covers and cuddled next to Enchantress, "I love you.."
Fang smiled and kissed her before walking to leave the room, "I love you too.."

Well drawn, well-written, and though I've never seen these characters before (I'm a quasi-active lurker at the moment

Well they're my OCs so unless you knew of me than it's unlikely you've seen them.
The jist of what's going on is that the unicorn - Enchantress - is a sufferer of dual schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder. This makes her violently unstable and very suicidal although that last thing she wants is to abandon her family.
Fang is a hermaphrodite kirin. "He" is often seen as a monster or a freak -even by his own daughter since he is verbally aggressive and a vicious carnivore- but he's actually just a sweet guy behind a rough exterior.
You wont find alot of them since I don't write very much outside RPs.

I got that Fang was a sweetie in this one, though. He very obviously cares for Enchantress and Firecracker no matter how he seems on the outside.

My reason for why she's having a hard time is mainly that she went untreated for years due to being in an arranged marriage her parents set up.
Her spouse cared little for her and by the time she got out and got diagnosed she was already drifting into her own fairy land.
Fang however tends to come off as an arrogant asshole to most people.
Mainly because he is very vain and tends to not risk himself for others.

Hmm. Ah, well, arranged manages can be successful, but I expect they are rarely easy in the emotional sense, and when one side genuinely doesn't care for the other....
Still, even if it took her a while before she could get diagnosed, the fact that it's still this serious of a problem proves that, like with our own world, Equestrian medicine is a long ways away from perfect.
Well, I like Fang so far, but since this story is my first impression of him, that makes more than a bit of a difference. And as for him being vain and all, even likeable characters can have major flaws.

Well, I have no idea what your plans are for her as a character, but I hope that someone can treat her successfully before she does anything permanent.

What I have written is pretty shitty so I don't do it to much.
Every now and then though I will post a short story related to a picture.
But it's becoming more rare with my constant changing of details.

Most of my friends on here prefer drawing. Or they'll write for RPs or occasional scenes like you've done, and focus on drawing for everything else.
Me, I keep trying to convince myself to practice drawing, at least so I have some vaguely decent representation of my characters, or I'll dabble in other types of art, but my primary goal is writing the story.

Well I wanted to do something emotional with Fang and Chantry for some time now.
Generally people either have a crush on Fang or think hes a douche, as for Chanty most see her as just a shy unicorn and ignore her problems.
I wanted to draw a piece -as well as write a short story- that accurately summed up their relationship and TRUE selves.
I'm glad so many people are feeling the same emotions I did while drawing and writing this.
