Ever wonder where that Gold-clad Elite sneaks off to after you open that locked door? I know I have. I figure he goes for a walk outside or something.
Anyway, yeah. This is him...not standing infront of that door you unlock...he just came down the walkway from outside. The same way you come down yourself when playing the game.
I seriously didn't want to put this up here. It's been up on Bungie.org and my personal site since last month. But I figure there might be fans that watch this archive that don't know about it on the other sites...
I do NOT want any C&C frankly...I don't give a rat's ass about what some people might think is 'wrong' with this image. I'm tired of it. You want perfection, go look at a f'ing screencap. Leave my art the hell alone.

You can actually kill this S.O.B with a pistol when he closes the door on you the first time. Then when you disable the security system, he charges out of the door over his own corpse

when I first play halo, I called Gold elite Commanders cus they are only elites with sword in first game

Mmmmmmeerrrmhh!!! This guy....just this frickin guy....i love him, but I still hate him soooo much! I used to play tag with him in the first Halo game, so funny. Great art work, I love how you fixed the perfect shine on his golden armor!

I can kill him three times during the mission:
1) Before the door closes.
2) I let the Marines and the Warthog standing at the door.Β I deactivate the security system. (Cutscene)
The door opens. SURPRISE! The Marines shoot him.
3) The normal way.
The ass has three lives.

My brother got the warthog in the elite's corridor and rammed him, and then he went to this area where there's just this big cliff and you see Master Chief kicking a stone down it

He was definately a big deal. Very excited for the new Halo 1 release, but sad they aren't toying with the level design even a bit... i mean, who really wants to wander all over this island in the same stupid pattern again, with nothing new to wonder about... anyway, fav!

me and my pops had a solution to him... drive the warthog downt there with a marine on the gun so when you come back up... nothing but chaingun firing and elite death scream...
and i too have wondered...

The problem is unless you ram the warthog into the door way all the marines die once you activate the cartographer.

Well, the hog was always outside the door where the elite came out so once we were back up he got mowed down.

Yeah if you get it into just the right spot the marines survive, also they survive in the little cave on the side of the exit.
