Description
This pendant is made with a cabochon of abalone shell covered in a blue layer of resin wrapped in sterling silver wire. The sterling silver wire for the majority of the piece is 20 gauge but the details and to secure the accent cultured pearl it is 26 gauge. This was an interesting pendant. It was to be a gift to a female relative of the buyer.
The picture is the same pendant in two different back grounds and lighting. Which do you prefer?

The black background is much more striking, but the shape is a little unclear around the edges (especially compared to the white,) perhaps a darker background that was not quite black, (like a deep blue or purple) would accent the pendant even better

LOVES IT. This is one of my absolute favourites of yours. That shell thing is so pretty, and your wrapping is very elegant, the pearl is a perfect accent to the rest of the piece.
I second the other commentor who said that black makes the piece stand out more, but white provides a more "accurate" presentation. But since the black doesn't mislead in any way, I think I favour it over the white. Eye-catching is very important with getting the kind of attention that generates sales, and so long as the picture is accurate, I'd take the one that will get more attention.

I believe it is an abalone shell covered in a blue resin then polished to form a thin cabochon.
Abalone is a very pretty but often times delicate shell. I assumed when I purchased it that they added the resin to make it stronger with a little more color. I also have a red one in my stock at the moment.

Well.. The black one makes the stone stand out more, gives it a better shine. BUT the light one shows what the stone looks like over all (specially where it's dark on the stone) and it brings out the wire better. I believe having this piece side by side like this on dark and light backing shows this piece off splendidly!
Now.. since i answered your question, i must praise this piece. You absolutely did a very awesome job. It looks very professional and elegant. Although i do love the random wiring of yours. This is on a whole new level! You've really outdone yourself here, and if it wasn't already sold, i would have wanted to buy it myself. (I do kind of check to see if you put sold on there or not, even if i do or not have the money) ^.^
Keep up the great work hun!
